    it doesn't require swiping up..i had the same issue initially but after a couple of reboots it started working fine.

    Why can't OP improve the camera low light performance....

    These are 2 pictures shot on OP3 with exact same lighting, one with the Default camera app and the other with Google cam app..It makes me understand...

    update your twrp to a Oreo compatible version..There is a link on page 32 or 33.

    Just select the night mode and again turn it off. You will be back to normal.
