Correct, Verizon works fine, LTE, 5G, VoLTE, SMS, MMS. Correct, this is only happening to Visible customers.
The OnePlus 9 Pro does have C-Band support, band N77 and N78, it doesn't have to be approved by Verizon to work on C-Band, OnePlus has to enable N77...

Replace the 4G/4G+ status bar icon in Oxygen OS 12 to LTE/LTE+ in North America.
