2nd camera feature

    Badr.D, Feb 11, 2019 :
been going around the forums for a while now and i can see that the oneplus 2nd camera isnt used for wide angle. also when i a take 19.5 9 pic it uses only 10 mp whereas taking a 4 3 pic uses the full 16 gb. makes sense.
but would it be possible to use the 2nd camera to take 19.5 9 pics without losing quality and having the phone to crop the photo?

Not possible unfortunately... The sensor is only used for depth sensing with portraits. Bit of a wasted opportunity if you ask me!

No idea, you'd need to speak to OnePlus. But if the sensor isn't wide angle then no it wouldn't be possible

Both sensors have the same aperture, where did you read that is a wide angle?

16MP is the main sensor and 20 the second, both have the tag "wide", so you can probably guess what it means, right?

Which phone or camera does shoot uncropped photos at 19:9...?
    Sensor dimensions are 4:3...
Even with a wide angle lens...

is it the length of the sensor and note the angle it takes?

Weird, I just checked gsmarena myself, and it says "wide" to a 'real' wide-angle camera, too. (Example taken on the Lg v40 thinq)

So don't always trust gsmarena in this camera aspect.

ah ok i see. but let s say each camera takes 50 degrees. wouldnt it be possible to let the upper camera take 50 degree and the lower camer ato also take 50 degrees and then combine the 2 to get a wider angle? maybe part of the pic taken by the upper camera would be the same as part of what s taken by the second camera, but maybe if that part gets cropped or something then u can get more angles. it should be possible cos both cameras have 16 or 20 mp and both have the same aperture. is this clear to anyone. kinda like how the digital f16 camera works

I am not sure what you mean?

The same as as what it says on your phone? Where does it say something else? I'm a bit confused, sorry.

    Oh alright.

I have just checked on my 5T (same second sensor as 6T) and it's a bit wider, I can see it via 1080p60, there I can clearly see that the lens is a tad wider, but it has a sh*t ton of noise lol

    erm...?

Aperture (F-Stop) has no correlation with Wide angle...

A wide angle lens bends a wider angle onto the 4:3 sensor...
    Any other format is cropped..

    Aperture is Depth of Field...

And MP is just the resolution of the sensor...

The higher the resolution the better the quality of the crop...
But since the secondary cam is just used for depth information and enhancing lowlight shots I don't really see any other practical use for it...

    ; )

Also worth pointing out that at 25mm equivalent lens is considered wide in photography circles.
