3 button headphone help

I have a pair of HTC in ear headphones from my Incredible S, which I adored, because the 3 button remote had skip and back buttons for listening to music, and not just volume controls. I plugged them into my OPO to listen to Spotify this afternoon, went ot skip tracks, and to my horror turned the volume down instead! I figured out a double tap on the pause button would skip tracks eventually, but I can't learn to live with that.

Is there an app I can use to fix my previously android supported headphones back into skipping tracks? And if there isn't, can anyone recommend a new pair? I don't care about having a mic, I'd never use it, and I'm not interested in volume control on the remote, I just want to be easily able to skip tracks without taking the phone out of my pocket.

Oh! I did go to the link, I'd actually seen the page before, but hadn't quite finished wading through the giant block of text yet.

It does have three buttons, but the two on the back are for volume control, with the skipping and so on controlled by the middle button.
This is exactly the same as the ones I have.

Long press on volume changes the volume lots :p Double tap on the Play (centre) button does skip to the next track. But I specifically got HTC headphones instead of an audio brand, because I wanted the two extra buttons to skip tracks instead of control volume.

I'm pretty sure this was part of HTC's Sense UI, as other HTC phones have this skip ability. surely there should be an app or plugin or something I could do to get it back?

Some of the accessories will not be compatible with other devices, to me that is kind of dumb, but the companies want for their products to be used.

Depends on the app, for Spotify it works just like on iPhone, in Google Music only the start and stop work.

Edit: Sorry, volume does not work in any app. By Spotify working like iPhone I mean the double-tap or triple-tap part. :D

Is it? Oh, that's good news. I've held off on the new update because I heard it had battery drain issues, but that they've been fixed in the next update.
