This a widely reported and commonly known HW defect of the 3/3T with the rear camera looses the ability to focus, making it highly unlikely of having anything to do with the OOS 9.0.4 OTA update.

The only solution for fixing the focusing issue is have the rear camera module replaced. I suggest you take or send your device into a OnePlus service center for inspection of possible repairs.

In the future pls learn to use the forums search to find answers to commonly asked questions, before creating unnecessary threads like this one.

Because of this camera problem I haven't updated yet to 9.0.4. As of now it's working fine.

Install custom rom and check but before that replace your camera or else they would put blame on you that after root camera failed.

Custom rom is installation of different os. There is a procedure how to do. YouTube is best way to find it. But if you are new then do it carefully because if you do something wrong you might brick your device.

Go ahead then, reinstall OOS 5.0.8 Oreo. I can almost guarantee the focusing issue will still be present.

It's a known HW failure of these devices, OnePlus at one point was even replacing the rear camera module for free.

Only solution is having the rear camera module replaced.

And why do you think you are facing the same issue on Oreo? When the OP is running Pie and still has the issue.

It's a KNOWN HW FAILURE, get the rear camera module replaced.

Throwing insults around won't get you camera working any faster, only a OnePlus service center can fix this.
