I heard the one is not supporting 4g on the 02/giffgaff frequency in the uk . Is this true ???
A little gutted if it is , also if it is true is there a way of oneplus adding an update to the phone that might make this possable ?

If you have OnePlus One, are you not able to test it yourself?

It's 3/EE only at the moment.
Vodafone have just picked up some new bands, so Vodafone will be supported soon.
It's upto O2 to buy some new bands really.
It can't be added in software, it's the hardware that can't receive O2's 4G

Also, this has been answered many times before.

Don't think so. H+ on giffgaff is average where I am in NI. moved to EE and the 4g is brilliant

Yep, it's true. The LTE bandwidth (20 needed for most UK carriers) including O2 which as you've already stated carries GiffGaff are not supported by the OPO.

No software patch will fix this issue as it's a hardware issue, as mentioned the only carrier that will work fully is EE. Parts of 3's network is also supported, but - who wants to end up on 3? Not I.

Problem is, EE is quite pricey if you ask me, with Three being much more palatable price-wise.

I'm using my OPO on GiffGaff but do find the H+ speeds a bit better than on my old Nexus 4 (same SIM). Might be all in my head but it works just fine.

May consider switching to Three after my payback in December.

What do u mean? The best I could get was h+ here. It never reached more than 1mb down.

I can get 7-8mbps down on H+ on Three

Been covered to death, O2 (giff gaff and tesco) only has 4G on band 20, OPO hardware doesn't support band 20, so no software updates will fix this.

As mentioned vodafone have just bought up some extra 4G bandwidth so you will get some form of 4G on your OPO if you are on them soon.

Saying that for general day to day usage H+ is fine, I get about minimum 3-4mbps on H+ everywhere I go. Do you really need the speeds that 4G provide, other than for your main internet connection or to just say I have 4G look how fast I can download. Yeah it's fun initially but as I said do we all really need it.

I've seen some pretty cracking speeds on my old LG G2, best was about 55mbps down. Tested on the G2 at my desk at work on 4G, get about 5mbps, OPO on H+ in the exact same place on the desk, 7.5mbps.

Many people slate Three's network, but around me (North West England) it's fantastic. A friend is on 4G EE and his signal isn't great, much more drop off than Three and as above the pricing is more palatable. EE just have a bigger network so are the dominant network with LTE.
