5G Released in india - Need Update to use it via OnePlus Nord

  1. LokeshReddySura , via OnePlus Nord , Feb 1, 2021 :
    Dear OP team,

In india 5G has been released in telegana capital on the existing 4G Spectrum Where the downspeed hit to 1GBPS

Network provider is " Airtel "

Spectrum wave is 1800 (as far as i remember).

Downspeed and upspeed on the devices should not be compromised

Request you to release 5G Update for the nord users.

Have you also upgraded your mobile plan to a 5G one? The nord supports 5G out of thr box, so there is no update that OnePlus need to push to enable it.

The plans and sim card are of 4G as i mentioned the 5G transmission on existing 4G spectrum.

There is no 5G option on the network type that is what i am looking for.

I understand your thirst for having the latest and the greatest.

But Airtel just stated that it is 5G ready, NOT that it has started providing 5G in India. The auction for 5G spectrums is not even started yet in India. So dont just go after updates. Check if it really supports the technology available yet.

Also this phone supports 5G out of the box for Single SIM ONLY. So if you are using dual SIMs, it wont work and fall back to 4G.

Airtel or Jio can't provide commercial 5g services without govt's permission and spectrum auction. Airtel just showcased that they could use 4g waves to deliver near 5g speeds. You won't find 5G signal anywhere.

You may come back here to ask once 5G roll out starts, Airtel/Jio supports your phone but it's not working on your phone. Oneplus may rollout some software update that enables it if it's not working already.
