No.There is a separate OnePlus 7 pro "5g" variant that supports 5g. The normal OnePlus 7 pro doesn't have the hardware required for 5g.

I spoke to support a couple days ago, they told me the 12GB RAM variant (£799) is capable of 5G.
In the UK, EE have already released their 5G model, which I'm currently using. The only difference is that theirs has "OnePlus 5G" written on the back instead of just "OnePlus".

I think the Oneplus support is wrong. The 12GB version is just another 4G device... The 5G version is only available with 8GB of RAM. I think a global roll out of the 5G is either not planned or not announced yet.

I'll speak to their live chat again once it opens. Hopefully someone that understands will be able to give more insight, it's possible they didn't understand my question previously.

The phone with EE is an exclusive contract and not available with anyone else here. It may be that you can't buy the phone outright anywhere for 5G yet, so maybe support provided false info to me.

After speaking to support again, they confirmed that is wasn't the 12GB version (as of current) but instead the 8GB variant has 5G compatibility. Which is the same as EE's 5G phone.
But they told me to keep an eye out for news soon for the 12GB.

Because EE clearly paid more for an exclusive deal.
    Really? Care to explain why.

Yes, but only the 8GB on EE has 5G. The 8GB sold online on oneplus.com or on amazon are only 4G devices.

I thought that too. The support rep seemed pretty certain that the 8GB variant is 5G compatible though. It doesn't help when they seem like they don't fully understand the question.

I asked if I could buy it from the OnePlus store and then buy a SIM-Only plan, and they said I could but would need to talk to the carrier to ensure compatibility.

Do you happen to have the transcript from the live chat?

That information is incorrect. Only the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G supports 5G. It's 8GB but a different version from the regular 8GB OnePlus 7 Pro.

Unfortunately not. I'm more than happy to talk with them again to see if I get the same response. I'll report back shortly.

I figured that was the case though. Fingers-crossed for an update on 5G SIM-only models then.

Alright, I got a bit more info this time. As stated below, the 8GB variant is 5G compatible with Sprint (US model?)

@dsmonteiro I spoke to them again, here's the transcript:

Jaicey Williams: Hi, my name is Jaicey Williams. How may I help you?
LW: Hi Jaicey, nice to meet you. How are you?
Jaicey Williams: Hi LW I’m sure you are in the best of your health and having a very good day :)
LW: I have a quick question regarding the OP7 Pro 5G.
LW: I'm having a wonderful day so far, thank you!
LW: Regarding the phone, is the 5G OP7 Pro currently available on the OnePlus Store?
LW: I've been told that I can purchase this from the store. Originally I was told the 12GB version, and then the 8GB version.
Jaicey Williams: LW I will surely help you in this query.
Jaicey Williams: Firstly I would take the time and appreciate your love towards OnePlus. I am happy to see the immense pleasure it takes for you to become a part of our family.
Jaicey Williams: The 5G compatible device from OnePlus is OnePlus 7 Pro, Nebula Blue device the 8GB model.
LW: Thank you, I appreciate it. Is this device currently available for purchase, or is this going to be announced at a later date?
Jaicey Williams: It is available on the website.
LW: Great. So if I was to buy a 5G SIM-Only plan from EE, I could then buy this 8GB device from the OnePlus website and the phone will use the SIM for 5G connectivity?
Jaicey Williams: The device would work on Sprint with 5G services.
LW: Apologies, to clarify this is for the UK. EE and Vodafone are the 5G carriers currently - I was going to purchase a 5G SIM-Only Plan with EE, and then purchase the phone from you guys on the OnePlus website. I wanted to make sure that the phone was 5G compatible in the UK first.
Jaicey Williams: LW, the device only supports Sprint for the 5G services.
LW: I see. So for US customers, if they were to purchase the 8GB model from the website, they can use a 5G SIM with it?
Jaicey Williams: Yes, you can use the device with Sprint career to use the 5G services.
LW: Okay. Is there any plans or upcoming announcements for when it will be released for the UK with 5G compatibility?
Jaicey Williams: Our team do not have this information, please be aware it is in the process and kindly stay tuned.
LW: Alrighty, thanks very much. I will keep my eyes pealed for more info.
LW: I appreciate your time and info.
Jaicey Williams: Its my pleasure ;)
