6T Screen brightness

So on day one I ordered OP6T. It's all nice except for the screen brightness. On my 5T I kept the brightness at around 25-30% and it was already bright.. On 6T I have to get the slider close to 90% in order to get a decent brightness. At 30% it's almost completely dark (useless in the daylight). Anyone experiencing this behavior? Is it normal or do I have a Lemmon that needs to be replaced?

I actually thought the screen on OnePlus 5 got too bright too quickly, where I almost never went past 40% brightness. I think this was perhaps a recalibration that went a bit too far.
Personally, I prefer this since I keep my phone darker than most people.

Isn't this just the new brightness algorithm introduced in Android Pie?

As a 6 user, I noticed a big change in how the brightness worked in Oreo and in Pie, and there was a post by OnePlus explaining that.

Basically the new algorithm tries to learn based on your usage, and that's why your mileage might vary until it learns.

    Thanks
Can't say I'm happy about it. It's like going from one extreme to another. As long as I am not the only one, I guess I'll have to live with it. Hopefully it will not cause any screen burn-In

I think it's just Android Pie. The Essential Phone had same issue and everyone was claiming brightness was lowered, but in actuality the scale was just changed...maximum brightness stayed the same.

Many devices running on Pie are having brightness issue. My Nokia phone was brighter on Oreo ROM.
Is it a problem with AOSP ROM?

It becomes real pain to use OP6T in direct sun bcoz it is way too difficult to see anything when u r out in direct sun. Getting irritated now bcoz of this drawback. The new updates too have nothing in it regarding this. Please look into this.

Did you really need to bump this thread for something unrelated?

Technically you did. The OP asks why the brightness slider is higher than in Oreo for the same amount of brightness (which was a major problem when Pie came around); yours is asking for them to up the brightness more due to direct sunlight. Also, you necroposted.
