TMO version is locked until you pay it off and updates are slower, also one sim card slot. Buying straight from OnePlus you get faster updates, 2 sim card slots, unlocked phone. Other then that they are the same phone

Also only the TMO version comes with 256GB thats the only option in size.

No , one sim from Tmo versus dual SIM from OnePlus and different update path as well.

    Plus what Ryan said above.

its best to buy on the site of oneplus if you can so you can choose your configuration and you will have 2 sim slots

if I had 700 bucks on hand I would have done the same. OnePlus dropped the ball here, the reason I changed is I was tired of LGs non existent updates. if I'm going to have to go through the same thing here then it's pointless

Also, T-Mobile OnePlus launcher has an option to have 'Google Discover' (feed) on the left pane instead of OnePlus Shelf. The international (unlocked) version does not have this. But it definitely should. :)

didn't realize that. mine is default to Google. I am going to return it to TMobile though since it lacks Fnatic mode and will end up with poor update times. I purchased the 12GB version through OnePlus. I don't want to be out of pocket up front but don't want to deal with TMobile nonsense.

I'm told that if you replace the SIM tray with one from the International version it will function as a dual.

Whether or not that's true.... I have no idea!

Not 100% sure however it works in all of the same places as the Tmobile one did in my area and has just as good if not better reception.

The T-Mobile firmware version can be flashed to the International/US firmware once you SIM unlock the device. It will then work perfectly fine with a dual-SIM tray. The International/US firmware is limited by the firmware to X16 or CAT 16 where the T-Mobile firmware supports X18 or CAT 18. The updates for the firmware are about 2 weeks behind the International/US firmware but the T-Mobile GM1915 hardware is exactly the same as the 8GB/256GB GM1917. It just comes SIM locked to T-Mobile out of the box and the SIM tray has some extra plastic in it that prevents you from putting in a second SIM. It can easily be removed with a file or sharp razor though, if you don't want to spend the $2 on the replacement.
