ATT does support the bands, but there's a certificate that OP needs to push out as a software update

That is not how 5g works, you do not need a certificate, it is not like volte

The bands are supported, but it seems that OnePlus did not have the 8t certified for ATT. I wish I knew this before I bought this phone. I had similar issues with the 5t on ATT networks

You do not need certification, 5g is hardware dependent, you need certification for volte

Ok I spoke with ATT and OnePlus tech support and both told me the same thing. The phone has the correct bands and ATT has the correct bands, but ATT has not certified the 8 t for their 5 g bands. One plus website calls out in small letters that the 8t will only work on ATT 4g lte bands

Things you have to be done before you have 5G on your phone...

Your phone needs to have 5G capabillity.
Your phone needs to support the bands used in your region.
Your phone needs to be certified by the provider - MISSING in your case.

You - need to have a provider that supports 5G in general.
You - need to have a mobile plan that actively supports 5G.
You - need to be in an area that is covered by 5G network - 5G Antennas in your current location.
You - need to have 5G enabled on your device.

If any of this points is missing or unknown - you wont (likely) not be able to use 5G data connection.

So in other words carrier and Oneplus needs to work together to bring the 5G support.
