I've a One plus 5, purchased it last year. Yesterday night I'd charged my phone close to 95% around 12 am. I never keep it on charging for the whole night. Today morning when I woke up around 7 am and checked my phone, it showed a notification alert of 5% battery remaining! Android system was showing around 60% usage.
I've tried to remove cache and switched off app backup. But not sure if this would suffice. Seems like something major has gone wrong with the OS, as this is the first time I've faced this issue. Been praising this phone for its battery life, as I easily manage to use it for 2 days with a single charge. Any permanent fixes to this problem would be appreciated.

    I would suggest :-
    • Fully charge your phone, via a non-dash charger
    • Disable wifi
    • Force close any pirated apps you downloaded from some dodgy repository
    • Orient your phone vertically
    • Sit on it, and swivel.
I'm pretty sure that this will improve your general experience with your phone, if not the battery life.

That's called a wakelock right there. Most likely some rogue app is preventing your phone from going to sleep properly. Clear your cache from recovery mode and monitor it for a while to see if it improves. If it doesn't run in safe mode for a while and if that helps start searching for apps to uninstall that might be causing it.

I'm using the One Plus 5 as well and the same thing happened to me yesterday and this was the first time it has happened. Android system usage was 55%. My phone battery last night was around 60% and I woke up today to find my phone dead. A permanent fix for this would actually be appreciated.

A permanent fix would be to use an app to detect the which application was causing the wakelock and uninstall it, but that requires root. Otherwise you're stuck using trial and error to try and track down and remove the app.

I'm sure that this things happening after the latest update, try to clear the cache partition from recovery mode and then check, if not solve then Uninstall the app and re install it one by one and check, If you fell problem in that than factory reset is last option and it's solve your problem completely make sure to backup the data before that..
