Tokolozi , Nov 30, 2020 : Even if it was avaialble, the USB port doesn't support the speed of 5G since it's a USB 2.0 implementation of USB C. This means the speeds will be less than what you could get with the 4G modem in the phone itself. Additionally, 4G will keep on working, it still is and probably will be the largest market share for phones for some time.

Roniboy13 , via OnePlus 6T , Nov 30, 2020 : Oneplus 6 can connect to the 5G networks directly no need for the adapters. If you wish to create a 5G network hotspot from your device just change your AP band to 5G from 2.4G in hotspot settings.
