    The depth sensor camera is useless. OnePlus fooled us by giving a dummy camera and they claimed that its a depth camera. So disappointed OnePlus. You could have just given 3 cameras instead of four. I didn't expect this from a brand like OnePlus.
    At the end, PLEASE DO NOT REPEAT THIS AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. Love you OnePlus

    It feels like its not working but it actually does work. To test it, open camera in portrait mode and select the small icon on the right which zooms in the subject and blurs the background.
    I have attached a pic of how it works just for reference.

    This is achieved as a combination of software + hardware so it still gives us the effect even when we cover the sensor. But the edge detection is far better when its not covered.

    Thats not true for me is showing depth effect irrespective of camera covered or not. After i tap to focus it shows depth effect even after covering the sensor. And i tested this many many times. Even Oleophobic coating above my depth camera got removed because i use not transparent tape again and again.
    The only difference i can see sometimes is that it take more time to show depth effect when camera is covered.
    and we have 2 dummy sensor not 1 and we can do without macro as well. and OnePlus will do it in 9 series as well.

    I have been using this version since 22nd November. Its completely safe. I also use GCam v 7.3 from Greatness.

    Yes absolutely it is better than what comes in the existing software version! There are other differences with respect to the UI and also the video capture in 4k 60 fps works perfectly. Definitely worth a try.

    Every mode every sensor working so far no problem.
    Can see little more details in photo (might be my imagination) but will check this one for few days its stable enough for me.

    Did you select the right circle shown just above the shutter button? That makes the photo zoom in a bit. The depth sensor i am mentioning works only in that mode.

    I tested it even in a different lighting condition but the result was the same. For me it works perfectly.

    You can see its working even after hiding the sensor.

    I also broked my temper in the process thought. And video quality is not very high as i don't have any good quality camera phone right now but it serves its purpose just skip from 20 sec till 50( i was struggling with the tape)

    After you applied the tape, the "zoomed mode" by pressing the right side button over shutter button was not activated. That is a necessary step. Also instead of tape, try using your finger so there is no chance the sensor would sense anything. For me it is working as intended though in all lighting conditions.

    I already tested it. I test that again as after you point that out.
    And i tested it with my finger many time before as well.
