    Hey community,

We can all agree that some sneak peeks are always welcome, but this is a huge one. We finally get an early view of the new UI for Android 12. A thread on the XDA Forums went live with the screenshots of what could be the next Android OS from Google.

It was mentioned in the thread that an alleged early draft of a document that Google made to summarize changes in Android 12 leaked online, and the screenshots showcasing the new UI and functional changes were extracted from it but take all of this with a grain of salt as they might not be 100% accurate, or reflect the final design.

The screenshots show a new opaque design for the notification and quick settings panel, which I personally feel like something out of a Realme device. It seems like the quick settings panel now houses 4 tiles instead of the current 6 and each of them may change shape on activation. The date and clock information have a slight change but we still get the notification categories for conversations and other notifications from Android 11.

Also, taking out a page from Apple’s book, there are new status bar indicators on the top right corner that will tell when the cameras and the microphone are being used. On tapping these status bar indicators we get which app(s) is using what component. Also, these are colored according to the time of use – green for currently in use; orange for recently used (as per the screenshots). Furthermore, we also have the option to disable the cameras and the microphone with separate toggles along with the location access.

Lastly, it seems like Android is stepping up its widgets game again. A new widget called the “Conversations widget” appears to be one of the focus features of Android 12. These widgets provide access to “People Shortcuts” which contain an avatar, name, status information and shows recent messages, missed calls, or activity statuses. The widget that’s shown is small but there may be available for different sizes.

Again since these aren’t 100% verified, some of these features might not make it to the Developer Previews and the Final Build. So there’s still hope for those (including me) who don’t like the new notification panel. Still, while there are many questions still unanswered,

What are your thoughts on this leaked design?

You can read the article in its entirety on XDA.

    This is @Bhaveee ,

    PEACE OUT!!

It's a considerable change in UI, if you ask me. It's one of the biggest changes I've seen on stock Android for the past years.

Love the privacy features, but could be done more on that side, seems like they are much focused on the notification panel UI, it's like me preparing for a subject which I'm excellent at and leaving that one part where everything screws up (android privacy in this case).

Absolutely love the new UI ! It finally looks modern , In the past Stock android lacked a bit behind in clean UI and modern design... These days phones are fullscreen ! with almost 98% Display size...it's only natural to make a device with full screen UI

Everything, the much needed attention to privacy features is everything. and now it'll probably be a step ahead of iOS just like in every other aspect.
    Right? Bunch of OnePlus losers.

Maybe they are taking baby steps. Since android is vast, unlike Apple's close monitoring of the hardware and the software android needs to take baby steps or else if they mess up something it will be really big.
