    Dear OnePlus Community,

It would be a great help if you can give us access to use the 48 MP Back camera of OnePlus Nord for Gcam mod. Hope you will take this into consideration.

    Thank you

    From,
    A good admirer of OnePlus

GCam isn't a first party app. Nothing OnePlus can do here. Try contacting the Developers of the various GCam ports

Nope. They can only abide by the API. The 7/7T series has it because Devs have been able to enable it. Wait for them to enable it for the 8 series and the Nord

That is wrong. OnePlus blocks 48MP. You can only get 12MP RAW, which is what GCam uses

    Celso, [1/20/21, 11:49 AM]
And on the 7/7T/7 Pro, 48MP is only possible if the user roots the phone and installs a Magisk module

GCam uses what the API allows it to. OnePlus controls the API, not the modders or GCam. That guy is wrong

Never said you didn't need Magisk or root. Had enabled the 48mp mode on my previous device (7T) that way. But it didn't work on my colleagues 8 or my 8 Pro (the image never saved in the gallery after the shutter), so I guess the devs haven't released a patch for it, atleast there wasn't one in July. Didnt try since, as the benefits offered are minimal at best.

Yes but its just a workaround because gcam don't have any API to access 48 mp. This can be a lot easier if they provide an API to access 48mp mode just like asus without root and without magisk.

That will lead to users complaining about the extra noise in all but the brightest conditions. The noise does go up big time, and the extra detail, while present, looks almost like an over-sharpened image. Having an option is good, but when it can lead to trouble for a company, it might be a better business decision to not offer it.

Well yes everything you said about output from these sensors in 48 mp mode is correct but 48mp mode already exists in OnePlus camera app there are more chances of user complaining about first party app then a third party app.
Well 48 mp is purely gimmick but still having option to experiment doesn't anyone. Also access to 48 mp doesn't mean we can't access to 12 mp photos so i don't see any problem here. Like i said previously in asus phones gcam can access both 12 and 48 mp api.

There is immense noise reduction applied in the OnePlus camera app (the dreaded smoothening effect), which keeps the noise at bay. I never said they can't give the option. If you ask the users, then you can get an explanation, but not a change in the API. Put the feedback in the feedback section and hope for the best

Obviously i know our discussion will lead to nothing and nor even giving feedback will(i know because many people on gcam group claim they have already done it). But still it to discuss something anyone can correct you.
and from oos 11 they have even restricted aux cameras but we can't do anything about it.
