Other ADB doesn't recognize my device in recovery mode...

    Sridhar Ananthanarayanan , Feb 23, 2018 :
    Hello friends,

I am unable to view my device on Windows 10 PC when in recovery mode.

    What works:

    1. ADB commands works when phone is turned on (booted to system)
    2. Fastboot commands works when phone is in Bootloader mode (also called download mode)

    What is NOT working:

    1. Fastboot commands when phone is turned on (booted to system)
    2. ADB commands when phone is in recovery mode (e.g. adb devices gives a blank result). However, I can sideload a ROM (clean install) via ADB when the phone is in recovery mode. This is probably the only adb command that works in recovery.

I am, therefore, unable to copy files to and from the device when it is in recovery mode as the phone does not show up in Windows Explorer.

    Device: OnePlus 3T
    OOS Open Beta 22
    Official TWRP 3.2.1-0
    Official OnePlus drivers (1.0.0) installed
Universal ADB driver (ClockworkMod. 1.0.4) installed

Do note that I have no problems flashing ROMs, recoveries, etc.

    Appreciate any help. Thanks.

What are ClockworkMod drivers for? Have you tried just using the regular ADB drivers from Google?

I tried a few during the early days. but only this one worked (the one from ClockworkMod). since I was able to get my work done, I did not bother to find a better one.

which one are you suggesting to use? can you share the link?

install adb installer 1.4.3 then reboot your phone into fastboot mode or just type (adb reboot-bootloader)

when you are in fastboot mode just check via ( fastboot devices)

NOTE: turn on usb debugging from developer option..

if you want to access files in the phone then boot your phone in recovery mode ( twrp ) then go to mount . some time it doesn't work so you have to do once disable mtp then again you have to enable mtp then when you connect your cable to pc then your storage will show up ..

I've just got the one that the Android SDK manager gave me and they've always seemed to work fine on my phone anyway. Version 11 it says, haven't found a link yet though..

    disabling enabling MTP didn't work.

I will try the link that @Hydra Bob gave or search for ADB 1.4.3 and see if that helps. Thanks.

this is not a new thing I am facing. it has been like this always, through all the TWRP versions over the last year and other ROMs (both stock and custom).

the problem appears to be with the ADB drivers I am using. I will check that. don't think it has anything to do with TWRP.
