after each OTA battery optimization changes

Wgy is it that after each OTA update that comes out I have to manually remove an app from battery optimization.

It's starting to get annoying and I'm missing notifications. it also isn't acceptable as my mother's Nexus 5X doesn't show the same behaviour.

so I don't have to touch the battery optimization then? what's your experience with having this off? does it reduce battery life?

    cheers

I just disable "Background app data" on my apps I don't need constant tabs on. It's saved me a good amount of battery. Your mileage may vary.

Give your battery a few charge cycles and it should return to normal. And if that fails, there's a huge stickied thread about this type of thing that no one ever uses.

I've seen that stuff but it's been really useless that thread. so far Android system is using a ton of battery like never before. I'm really considering going custom ROM like I used to before the 5T.

so many complains... uninstall social media apps, turn your brightness to 40%, turn off "screen off gestures"
remove every automated backup features, just use the phone as clean and stock as possible and you get something like this

With heavy usage i normally get 7H SOT while playing clash royale and pubg for a few hours including using messenger as my only social app (need it for work).
Basically, almost everything is stock and with normal usage i get so much battery life.
The screenshot above was with at least 4-5 hours watching anime as 50% brightness.
I dont get it how you guys have so miserable battery life.
Take care of your phone and your phone takes care of you
