My Alert slider works good to change from Ring to Vibrate but it doesn't change to silent mode most of the time. Sometimes it will toggle from vibrate to silent when i slide it but most of the time it does not. I booked an appointment at the nearest service centre twice but need to cancel it due to my overtime works and i'm too busy to visit service centre's. Does this will be fixed on future updates or is it a hardware problem because when i push the slider a little forcefully to the top it will works sometimes but not always.

Make certain there is no debris or lint in the slider opening that could prevent it from moving all the way to the end position.

it will work when i press and push the slider with some force.
but when i simply sliding the slider only Ring and Vibrate is working and i am sure it is not supposed to work like that.

More like software, so many people complain about this recently.. And all can't have faulty hardware.

Mine is the same. Given that it works when forced I'd suggest it's a design fault with the component.

I found that sliding it back and forth from ring to silent several times restores normal functionality, but it's the first hardware issue I've had in four OnePlus phones

I am having the same problem with my slider button on my OP6. . it goes form loud>vibrate>vibrate. Previously it goes to silent when I drag it with some force but now it remains on vibrate mode. so I suggest you to not apply extra force. just go to settings and change it to silent mode if it's necessary. . I hope they resolve the issue soon as lots of people are having the same problem.

I also have this issue. It isn't a cache issue, but I guarantee if I wipe my data the issue will persist. It's incredible that this is the first response to pretty much any Oneplus issue. Shocking.

I just want to say I have same issue. Post #5 doesn't work for me. It does not look like HW issue. When I move slider to silent mode it does nothing, but when I move it back to vibration, it vibrates. Anyone solved it?

Right now I successfully turned on silent mode. I hold slider from top and bottom with nails and slowly moved to top and it worked. Definitely HW issue :(

    Same issue here with OP6T
seems.to be a design issue by the amount of people facing the issue.

Have you cleaned out your Alert Slider?
This appears to resolve the issue for a large number of people. ;)

yeah of cause and it gets a bit better after cleaning but nothing like it was when it was new and the issue returns after just a few days. so not really a long term fix more like a temporary work around.

Use 'Reply' so other person is notified.

If cleaning out the Alert Slider does the trick then keep doing that.
As for a 'long term fix' - don't let it get full of gunk in the first place.

Thanks very much I cleaned it and it worked flawlessly after it was same like killed!

Please notice that cleaning process is a bit tricky
You need to use a very thin pin and push throw all corners of the slider and the edge itself

It should work perfectly after that
