    A couple of points.

1)The need for AOD is not completely justified in this post, People also use it for a quick glance to know the Time.

    2) This is not a state of the Art and a bleeding edge Innovative feature. AOD has been on multiple older generation competitors devices already.

    3) The Oneplus 7 pro has a 4000 mah battery and a 500mah battery drain is pretty acceptable, Other device manufatures do it with much smaller battery capacities.
I realise the post hinted by OnePlus conveys that they haven't implemented AOD on devices already because it hinders overall User experience,
But the sheer absence of AOD hinders the user experience to begin with in the first place.

    4) Dismissing AOD as a legit feature for a smartphone is a bad idea. It's only a matter of time before users switching over from flagship samsung devices feel let down by the absence of such a basic quintessential feature.
AOD needs to be implemented anyways in the future, So why not start now?

the question is, why can Samsung, Google, Huawei and everyone else develop an Always on display which does not drain the hell out of the battery?

I don't need an AOD, because I always get my notifications with my Smartwatch, but I understand the frustration by the users.

Please add the AOD to the Oneplus laboratory! We will keep in mind that this will be an "experiment". Give us the possibility to enable it and test it!

The screen during AOD can be refreshed once every 60 Seconds to aid battery life.

You should use NotifyBuddy from the App store, it shows every notification as long as you want.
The app shows the different app logos as blinking notification on your screen. You can define the period and duration for blinking notification. That is really a good compromise because you always get notified if something happens, and it does not drain your battery significantly.

This is one of the best answers I've read by letting us in the process with you.
But at least can you provide horizon light for 6t to notice the notifications more?

Always on display is normally a must feature for now a days . Visually and essentially feature. And some custom face make it even more attractive. Hope oneplus add this in future. Eagerly waiting beacuse sometimes i want to check my notifications without touching my phone [e]1f60a[/e].
