Am I missing something in OP6.. "AI"

    Afzal Khan, May 16, 2018 :
A big congratulations to the whole OP team for putting up such a great show together.. @OP6 Launch!!

I have been quite patient till it ends and then I realized there is something missing which (If available) has not been mentioned anywhere in whole presentation by @carl pei that is "AI"
I believe Honor phone are the biggest competitor for OP at the moment and with AI upfront they might have the upper hand.

    Thoughts are welcome.. :)

EDITED- Here is a link which one can relate to my view.

AI is just marketing at this point imo. Needs to mature a bit before we see any useful applications.

Honors present take on AI is itself a big joke on AI itself.
OnePlus has distanced itself from that term for now

I wish I could have been agreed to you both but I can't because I know what AI does in the real world situation. Not Hyping anything or saying OP6 has any shortcomings but I have used the Honor View 10, 8 Pro and trust me AI does make a big difference while taking a random shot where you are Not ready.

Android P comes with a bunch of built in "AI" like the brightness control so it doesn't really matter that much for the OP6.

Hmm.. i havent read too many reviews or used one personally, but the one review i did read didnt seem to show much of a difference between the old auto and the new AI assisted cam. Unfortunately i dont remember which model it was, maybe LG i think.

But there is no clarity that it is actually using artificial intelligence to learn and adapt, it is a good camera yes, but true AI, not really.

I believe a separate NPU unit is not just for fun.

Hmm..makes sense. Will it be able to compete with a dedicated NPU itself.

Of course. But unless you have the software capable of actually taking advantage of it, the NPU remains a gimmick. Which is why i said it needs to mature for now. Google seems to have a pretty good handle on it btw, considering the pixel camera software.

Yeah, it has a chip, but is the software doing real AI? AI is a system learning and changing. Seems odd that Honor is ahead of Google and Apple and others in this. Or is just someone sticking the term on a good camera as a PR move because AI is the cool new thing.

if you are talking about image processing and intelligent color management an "AI" then you are wrong. Oneplus 6 will have all the machine learning algorithms which will come with android P ( if they don't mess with stock ffs)

Injustice to one plus one users , there has been no auto update from Cyanogen OS to Oxygen OS. Not all users are software engg to understand coding. Even though its a China product we people believed in their product and purchased them.. they need to more customer sensitive..

Its just a matter of time. Huawei & Samsung are two companies which are doing most of the Innovation. They have the best R&D department.

Having the best spec-sheet on paper doesn't make you a winner. its user usability that matters.
