@Ignacio Contreras @Sat K "In case in a locality there is only 4G network, is there any benefit for such users in terms of the new 5G enabled chips? Is there any performance difference with the presence of 5G enabled chip?"

OnePlus models older than 8 will not have support for 5G because they do not have needed hardware components.

The problem is that snapdragon the chip makers are forcing OnePlus and basically most androids to have 5g included. snapdragon 865 all come with 5g chips and you must have it on. I hope this answers your question as it's not in Google or OnePlus hands to add 5g to devices or have an option to not have it

Zac i have just bought the oneplus 8 pro, and im reading that 5g on this phone is using the smallest/slowest section of the 5g band, should i have bought a differant phone which has a better 4g service( broader use of the 4g band) and saved myself a heap of cash, say my old s8+?
    look foward to hearing

My question to @Sat As read in the news and social media 5G is going to help in medical and other technical fields with further development in science and other technical fields. so in terms of its implementation along with integration with other connecting devices, strength, coverage and mediums How soon is this all going to happen??
I meant fully operational integrated model that could be relied upon for decision making in country wide businesses.

@Sat K I am concerned about security, I read few articles on 5G security where security agencies were talking about security issues with 5G.

5G will help AI spot suspicious activity because it will enhance the speed and volume of data that can flow through an organization's network. We know about the supply-chain risks that could make 5G vulnerable to spying.

Huawei is accused of presenting an espionage threat by US security agencies. US security forces have warned Huawei equipment could be used to create a “backdoor” into foreign mobile and data network.

Now please let me know how we can trust Chinese manufacturers on 5G network equipment. It's a big issue as we are facing covid-19 now which also started from China.

Hi, @Ignacio Contreras - working in the roll-out of connectivity in rural parts of the UK, can you suggest the best ways to allay community health fears and reassure people simply and clearly? I spend a huge amount of my time countering conspiracy theories and some kind of toolkit would be hugely welcome. Thanks. Matt

the range is not always like that. mmwave 5g is what your thinking about. TMobile is deploying 5g around with the same range as lte towers with 600mhz

hi, great to have such prestigious company available for questions. I wonder what the view from Google and Qualcomm is on 5G becoming the primary internet channel in homes and replacing the traditional fixed line providers? If that becomes the case what sort of innovation do you expect to become available to us from both device and app perspectives?
Hope you are able to cover this in the short time available!

Hi @Sat K & @Ignacio Contreras Warm Namaste from India. My question to you, Is it mandatory to introduce 5G technology now as due to the ongoing Pandemic Covid-19, its a war like situation in the whole world. Where there is soon going to be economic crisis & unemployment. So, introducing the 5G technology would it help the consumer as he is already facing all the ongoing crisis in the world.
People are still not over the 4G technology (Volte), the fact is some even don’t know what Volte is!
    Thank You

My question is are there certain areas where we can use 5G or is it usable in all areas in cities/towns?
