I dont know if it will work with one plus devices or not even sure if one plus have this option... but go to bluetooth settings-> advanced-> turn off dual audio and then try to switch the codec.

Same problem with OnePlus 7T and 1More TW earbuds. I hope OnePlus is working on a fix for this. If they're pushing for wirelss audio they should atleast make sure that it works properly on their devices.

I have the same problem in OP6 and Android 10.3.1, and I've found a solution, but you need root:
You have to edit build.prop. Find line "persist.vendor.btstack.enable.splita2dp" and set it to false, then reboot.

After that, my Creative Outlier are recognised as one device (not 2 separated devices) and I am able to choose aptx in the bluetooth configuration.

thanks but this cannot be the solution....OP remains silent and expects users to root their phone in order to edit a build.prop file...

The solution is to go to developer options, and manually adjust the codec, and the trick is to set to the sample rate to what is supported by that codec. I recall this being automatic on older builds of oxygenOS, but now it just holds the last codec until you choose the supported bitrate and samplerate.

For example, if you want AptXHD, you need to select 44.1 and 24bit. Want aptx? Select 44.1 or 48 KHz and 16 bit.
