Without root Oneplus Switch. But on the other hand I dont really need backups. Everything important is stored on Onedrive anyway. A few old sms may be good to keep but that is about it for me....but then again.... Does Oneplus Switch even work in DP1? Best would probably not to care about that and only use it for lazyness sake and not really dependning on it

All local upgrades always needs to be of a certain file format. If you are a regular beta tester of older devices I'm sure you know you can only flash zip files. If you are not used to flashing betas and rollbacks or even unbricks I suggest not to flash.

I am familiar with root and flashing ROMs but this downloaded as a .zip.jar so just wondering if that's how the file loaded for you because even if I unzip there is no rom that even looks to be there

Ah... Some flash of strange reasons....Anyway, of some reason some browsers make the file jar or even bin. I use Oxygen Updater. Right file format. Right directory. Verified md5. Ready to flash. Less hassle

That kind of risking has nothing to do with how well your phone perfoms or if you own the latest model. Community says you are using 6. Anyways, nobody should install this update on their main phone.
