[Submitted] Android auto slow usb connection after Android 10 update

    Bogeyd , Jan 1, 2020 :
When connecting phone to car head unit with USB, it takes couple minutes to car to connect to the phone and can't display Android auto in head unit before that.
Phone shows usb is in charging mode. If changing usb mode to PTP, phone connects immediately.
    Tested with different cable also.
Tested uninstall Android auto. Tested remove and reconnect car from Android auto settings.
    Car is Skoda Octavia 2017.
It used to connect immediately in Android 9.

I have exactly the same issue with exactly the same phone.
I can immediate connect if I choose USB connection to PTP after I connect the phone to car, after that, android auto immediately starts up.

Experiencing this too. Other than manually changing the USB mode, has anyone found a solution?
It's extremely annoying considering this is obviously because of the Android 10 update

    One workaround;
Go to options > default usb configuration > select PTP. Then it will connect fast, screen need to be unlock first.

After changing, be sure you connect your device only to trusted usb devices, chargers and cables.

No worries, my phone automatically switches back to "No Data" after Android Auto is being connected successfully.

Hopefully OnePlus fixes this annoying Bug sometime in the future.

I have the exact same issue. Everything was fine until a recent update, now my Nord takes a couple of minutes before it connects. This is very poor - please sort this out.

I have exactly the same problem. My phone used to connect immediately after plugged into the USB port, It takes a few minutes to connect for a while. As far as I experienced it's not related with the Android 10, because I have been using Android 10 with my Oneplus 7T Pro from the beginning and never faced this before. This only started happening recently. My Car is Skoda Superb!

Same problem here with VW Passat. Changing manually to PTP helps a bit, the phone connects faster, yet the connection is still not instant as it used to be on Android 10.

Same issue (with oneplus 9). Intolerably slow, uninstalling does not fix. Makes it virtually unusable because you have to wait several minutes before you can use the GPS to go anywhere.

Just bought a '17 Passat and was astounded at how slow Android Auto connects with my phone (7T). Figured it was a VW issue.
    Never Settle, right?
    OnePlus software and support sucks.

I have the same problem with my car (VW Polo). It takes a couple of minutes until the connection is established ... That's really annoying!!!! Please fix that as soon as possible. The newest update didn't fix it.

    Same problem for me!

    OnePlus 8 Pro
    VW Tiguan (2018)

Interesting that all claims here are related to VW group cars. Maybe there is a particular issue with VW radio software and/or firmware.

    Same issue here,
OnePlus 7 Pro on Android 11 and now my OnePlus 9 on Android 11. While it worked as normal on Android 10.

I've noticed while searching on Google that this issue only persists with Volkswagen-group cars (VW, Skoda, Seat, etc.)
I'm currently mailing back and forth with the Android auto team to try to fix it. I also mailed my local VW dealer and asked them if they can update my head unit firmware.

    VW Polo 2019
    Partnr. head unit: 3Q0035874C
    Hardware: 853
    Software: 0891

Maybe anyone else can share their info, I'll update here when I know more!

Looks like I'm the only one without a vag group car. Honda civic 19 plate. Used to instant now anything between 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
