The description suggest that you need it for Android Auto to work.

I installed the app and nothing. Tried different oh options. The car is VW Group model and we tested with samsung galaxy range and HTC and worked perfectly. I think the problem is the port

It definitely works :) I bought the phone for my fiancé and wanted to make sure it worked with the new Honda 2016 civic android auto capability. My OPO works with a USB 2.0 cable (not the existing one) and I bought a separate Orzly usb-c to 3.0 usb-a cable for his OP2. Everything works. Make sure you first download the Android Auto app and have your Bluetooth on to avoid any issues.

My OPT on Oxygen 2.2.0 works fine with my Pioneer AVIC-F77DAB, in fact it's brilliant. I'm lucky to live in a strong 4G area which helps with data for navigation and streaming music on Spotify.

Also I found that enabling Smart Lock and making the head unit a trusted device makes things a lot smoother. The phone doesn't like to connect if its locked.

Android Auto also requires a physical USB link, sometimes I get the impression that some people think it can be done via Bluetooth.....

That's the only issue I have. My OPT asks me ALWAYS if I want to add my car as trusted device and I accept. But next time it asks again... Haven't found any solution so far.
