    Hey everyone,

    Did you get a chance to catch the Google I/O live stream yet? We are super excited to announce we have been working closely with Google to give OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 users early access to Android Q developer preview. We will also release our first Android Q developer preview for OnePlus 7 Series in the coming weeks. (Stay tuned!)

    OnePlus devices are some of the most developer-friendly phones out in the market. We look forward to seeing how app developers and other early adopters in our community will take advantage of this beta to create even better software experiences.

    As the name suggests, this build of Android Q is best suited for developers and early adopters. As it is still in an early stage of development. That said, we do not recommend flashing this ROM if you have little to no experience in software development or flashing custom ROMs. Proceed at your own RISK!

    Known Issues
    1. Camera, portrait mode does not work
    2. Ambient Display is not working
    3. System stability issues
    4. Encryption will change in the next preview build
    5. Some apps may not function as expected when running on this Developer preview release
    6. Issue With MTP cannot copy rollback from PC to Phone
    Caution: Download Update and rollback build to Phone due to MTP issue might not be able to copy from PC to Phone
    You should understand the risk of BRICKING your phone, read the instructions carefully and be 100% sure of what you are doing, and please always backup your important data before flashing.

    Please note: This instruction is only for OnePlus 6/6T, and please make sure the battery level is above 30% and minimum 3GB of available storage space.

    MP version = Stable official version
    DP version = Developer Preview version
    OBT Version = Open Beta version

    MP and OBT to DP upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update
    Note: This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.

    1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
    2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
    3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
    4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
    5. Phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data, it will reboot again after formatting.
    6. Update successful.​

    DP to MP rollback guide - via Local OTA update
    Note: This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.

    Hi guys,
    as I have seen (too) many people flashing the Android Q Developer Preview and not knowing how to roll back to Pie, here's an extended written guide with screenshots :)

    But sir, how do I get back to Pie?

    Well, here is the guide.

    Prerequisites
    • internet connection

    Steps

    A:     Take a backup of your stuff. Everything will be erased once you flash the rollback build, so backup your nudes before doing anything.

    B: Download the rollback build that fits your device.
    If you are opening this from the Community app, you will get a white screen when you tap a link. On that white screen, tap the three dot menu and choose "Open in browser".
    This will start to automatically download your file.
    C: Rename the file. (I do not know whether this is need anymore, just check it yourself.)
    The reason for this is that the rollback build, for some reason, is downloaded as a .zip.jar file, while the updater needs it to be a .zip file.
    Go to the File Manager app and navigate to the downloaded rollback build.

    The name of the file, in the end, should be
    fulldowngrade_wipe_MSM_17819_181025_2315_user_MP1_release.zip

    D: Move the file.
    The official guide says "root" directory. What is this? Well, doesn't have anything to do with rooting your device.
    It's just the thing that you see when you open the File Manager first. Here you see the "root" folder:

    This is where your file should be placed.

    E: Flash the rollback build.
    Follow these steps to get there.
    • Settings
    • System
    • System updates
    • Gear icon (upper right corner)
    • Local upgrade
    • Tap the file

    F: Do not flash a Developer Preview again.
    This may come off as rude, but if you really needed this guide, chances are you are not a person who has the knowledge which is needed to play around with a Developer Preview.

    Awesome! Thanks for doing it again this year.
    Hopefully people will read the full post before proceeding.

    Edit:
    Just flashed it and as expected it's definitely not daily driver ready even for enthusiasts.
    Bugs:
    • Buggy
    • slow (some have reported fast but stuttery)
    • crashes
    • missing features
    • home button not really responding
    • Wifi not stable
    • Sim signal not reliable
    • no new gestures only three button navigation
    • Barebone android with not much OOS
    • Icons in the status bar is zoomed and looks big even after changing settings
    • Dark theme is there but there is sometimes mix Color.
    • Some have reported Quick charge is not working
    Rollback issues.
    Some users are experiencing issues with the rollback build. If you are facing issues try the following method.

    WARNING:
    One user @Its.Leandroo has reported setting a pattern will result in a unbootable device as it asks for pin which has not been set.
    It seems to be caused by the option for a pin to boot, as encryption is not working.
    As mentioned by @PrakarshX
    Possible Fix:
    If you are stuck in boot because of this error then please try the following.
    All of this was expected as @Manu J. explained in the post, but i still took a chance to see how it was.
    I recommend waiting for the next couple of builds.

    • If you don't know how ADB works you shouldn't even try this!
    • Do note this is like an alpha build!
    • This is the first test for OnePlus so you should expect stuff to not work
    • Do not think this will be good as a daily driver
    • Do expect to have crashes/bugs often!
    • Expect to lose all data and expect to reflash the image if anything happens
