I am not sure about how other people flash these, but I find it best to just use TWRP.

Also Android Security patch level is from May. Not sure who asked but I remember seeing someone ask lol.

Asking for my own general knowledge. If there some reason one wouldn't just wipe data in TWRP and then flash the Q beta? Especially if you are already rooted.

I've rolled back. Seems almost as if there was a character it didn't like, or the rollback filename was too long. After I renamed the same file in the same location the local storage manager detected it and I was able to run the package.

not everyone here seems to be familiar with rooting and flashing.
also i dont know if the beta needs anything from the official build since it wont install from openbeta builds.
to be safe i just followed the instructions from oneplus .
    was previously on havoc rom

This ROM basically seems to be about as crappy as the last one. Guess I'll just wait until July for DP3. Really disappointed with OnePlus' effort here. Guess it doesn't really matter since I'm switching to the Pixel 4 XL pretty much ASAP. I'll probably wait until around Thanksgiving or Christmas to so they can iron out the wrinkles first.

Just as disappointing as DP1. Why is it that Q runs with minimal issues on Essential PH-1 and Pixel, but on OP it is unusable? None of the bugs I found on DP1 have been fixed. In fact, there are now even more.

Because Pixel and Essential run stock Android. Google develops new Android versions on Pixels. And Andy Rubin was in charge of Android before leaving Google to go to Essential, so you could say he's got some experience.

I understand why they work better on Essential and Pixel but damn OnePlus. Can't even get your launcher working right. Camera freezes when you want to take a pic. Just sad. You've had over a month to get this right. You all do know they get the code way before Google releases the preview, right. It's not like they drop it off a week before release.

I know exactly how it works. Three build that was just released isn't the same build they are running internally. These previews are for developers, hence the name. These dev previews are so app developers can get their apps ready for the launch of Q, not for every day users to run it as a Daily Driver.

Since OnePlus runs Oos, they have a lot of code to tweak and merge to make it work with their feature set. Once they change the name from dev preview to beta the builds will be up to par for Daily Driver use.

I understand that also. But my point is this was poor effort on the part of OnePlus. They can't even get their launcher to stop crashing.... for real....I mean c'mon, man. That is BASIC functionality. That, at the very least, should be the one thing that works almost flawlessly. Super disappointed [e]1f614[/e].

I get your point, but I have run preview/beta software many times on many different systems/platforms. This is bar-none the worst I have seen. Barely an alpha user experience here. Where is the bug tracker so we can see progress?

Spoken like someone who's never developed anything.. lol. It's not that they can't get their launcher to work, it's like I said before, merging the new source into their established feature set. Calling them lazy due to a lack of understanding the process is pretty rude. But anyway, I'm not here to argue, so keep doing you. Goodnight
