As a tidbit, as I am editing my #OnePlusOne impressions video/mini review... When comparing it to the HTC One M8 I notice it doesn't have stereo speakers at all. =/ not a huge deal with them being in such close proximity to each other anyway. But still!

The OnePlus One has 2 mono speakers. It takes a stereo track and down mixes it to mono. So both the left and right speaker play the same thing. On an actual stereo device, such as the M8, it plays a left only channel on the left speaker and a right only channel on the right speaker. (I used Audacity to simply create separate songs playing on the left and right channels).

The M8 has 2 amplifiers (their official spec sheet clarifies this) , one for each speaker, left and right (discrete amplification), while the OnePlus One has only one amplifier driving both speakers.

    Just thought this was interesting.

They said they were stereo speakers so I don't think they would lie to us about that? Idk. Not a big deal sicne the speakers are like an inch at most away from each other.

Stereo sound comes from 2 mono speakers playing different tracks. I'm guessing that you're just playing something that is a mono mix, or you have something mixing it down in software. . . .

Because it "technically" has stereo speakers...just like "technically" they aren't the same company. ;)

Someone should tell Erica that it is not necessary to have 2 amplifiers to create stereo sound...

An amp can support multiple channels.
