    In general it should not be an issue via the hard-disk. However, If you have it on your PC, You can always cast it to the TV as well. If your internal Wifi network is fast enough for it.

    @Venky61 might have more suggestions.

    If I cast it from Laptop, it'll be limited to resolution of laptop (1080p) right?

    Not when using somethign like plex media server on the laptop to do it like mentioned above.

    Plex is easy to set up and can be used to stream media between different devices in home.

    Hey,
    You can play it easily from Hard Disk. I even played a file size of 60GB. So this shouldn't be an issue. Use a USB3.0 drive and connect to 3.0 port for faster seek.

    Thanks for the tag :)
    Casting has limitations on Dolby Audio.

    Plex won't play local content. He has to use Kodi or Nova or local playback if the default player isn't able to play it.

    The default file explorer is a "little" buggy and inconvenient while playing videos. 👀
    I use TV Explorer because it has docs and pdf support

    That is indeed true, but something like Plex (what I use personally) or Kodi should work fine at least :)

    Their latest update allows local content for me, at least on LG webOS. Maybe soon to be implemented on A.TV

    That's great if it supports local content now. Surely one of the best media streaming interface. Only one that even supports Dolby Vision (though not perfectly).

    Yup it's really great and easy to manage.
    I have it running on the NAS with over 8TB of content. It handles it beautifully! Even watch from the Nas when on holiday!

    I created mine using some left over PC parts and an UnRaid licence.
    The cost of Unraid really is worth going for over using FreeNAS, much easier, and allows mis-matched drive sizes!
