    Hello All,

Does Antivirus and cleaner apps are necessary for Op3? Why they are required and their use?

I got feedback that they slowdown the phone very much and it is not necessary to install them.

if yes they are required, then suggest best one for Op3.

Can anyone help me on this please....

I suggest ppl not to use cleaner apps as it just creates fake report for the user

most of the cleaner apps remove all the cache of the application.
when we launch the application it consumes more resources to launch which effect your battery life.....

As far as you are getting security patches no need to worry about malware or virus..

I personally use SD Maid Pro.

It is very different from most other so called Cleaner Apps.

It never gives fake warnings of Phone getting over heated and blah blah like Clean Mas.... or other similar apps and does not add a fake boost charging screen...

It all comes down to personal preference though.

I use it because I am not religious in keeping the cache clean or removing the unwanted folders that remain after trying various apps and because of the limited storage on OP3, it matters to me.

Android has many restrictions to its apps unless you're rooted and give the app root access. The same restriction apply to cleaners and anti virus apps. Unlike windows, Anti virus/malware apps can't truly access all the files in the file system. That's why most anti virus apps out there offer other features like device tracking etc to score users. Anti virus apps can only scan its own user space which is itself. It can also see what other apps you have on your phone that too only if you give permission to it and it assesses an app based on its reputation in its in built database. It can't truly scan an app or access another apps storage space unless it is given root access.
Anyway google is offering you the best protection by including an app scanner and malware identification kit in play services itself and it is enabled by default. You should be safe unless you install apps from shady unknown sources.
As for cleaner apps many have already answered and they do more harm than good. They always clear cache. So any app takes longer to load and it ends up consuming more CPU cycles which implies to more battery use.
Hope this clearly answers your query

I cannot truly suggest anything here. It's completely up to you. But I believe if you have a problem with your phone, you should try it. Or else don't. I personally do it only after an update/upgrade.

I suggest you NOT to use any antivirus or cleaner apps

    - OP3 is getting constant security patches
    - So you don't require a antivirus
    - You can clear cache manually, go to storage and click of cache to clear it
    - use Chrome or opera for security
    - don't download apps outside the play store

    - antivirus use your phones resources and in some collect your usage data ,so it's better to avoid them

i use ccleaner to clean empty folders and thumbnails and other stuff, its a very good app.

but antiviruses? no need for that, android is pretty secure by itself.
