    Dear Community

    I'm a big fan of Oneplus owned OP 1, 5, 8Pro.

But after Carl Left, and the recent public announcement to officially join with OPPO.

It seems One Plus has officially settled.

I think its time to move on, will try something new for my next phone.

Does anyone have any brands in mind?

    Please feel free to share.

OnePlus and Oppo didn't merge, only the R&D department did...
    Good alternatives
    -Xiaomi
    -Realme
    -Pocophone
    -Pixel
    -Samsung

I don't personally see these as reasons to change to another brand, but it's your decision and your money, so I completely respect it.

If you are not in dire need of a new smartphone, perhaps wait and check if OnePlus launches something appealing this year. And then make a more informed decision.

But if you are determined to move to another brand, perhaps check the Galaxy S21 Ultra - if you don't mind Samsung software. From the reviews, it does look like an excellent smartphone.

People still thinks it something new that Oppo and OnePlus work closely together... I mean Dash/Warp charging is re-branded tech from Oppo R&D :p They been doing this for years, just officially announces it now.

Aye, about that, I loved the title on the Android Police news published a few days ago.

"OnePlus and Oppo reveal shocking secret partnership that is neither shocking nor secret", as you can read here. :D

    Hi there,

Only R&D is being joined between the two companies. That is Research and Development. The two companies will remain independent entities. For you, nothing changes. Warp Charge was based on Oppo's VOOC technology. Is that something that you disliked on your OnePlus 5 or 8 Pro?

Moreover, I'd like to ask you why do you feel like Carl leaving impacts you. Carl worked in Marketing, not product development.

What exactly do you get from "brand loyalty"? You're there to buy their products. They're there to sell you stuff. Yes, OnePlus messes up in places, but its still much cheaper than the other brands, and its actually not making any compromises anymore (look at the 8 Pro).

Samsung - has ads in their UI. Also, if you're willing to pay what Samsung charges for basically the same things as the OnePlus flagship, go ahead!
Huawei - no Google Play Store
Xiaomi - so much bloatware. The phone is stuffed with ads and recommendations. Plus, I'm suspicious about just how many permissions they need in their apps.
Nokia - Its a clean OS, I'll give you that, but the phones are all midrange in performance as well as specs. Also, you won't get fast updates anyway. And you lose out on the customisation.
Vivo/Oppo/Realme - you just said you don't want OnePlus because they're merging with Oppo. So, you're probably steering away from these apps as well.

You're paying for whatever you buy, so just get whatever feels good. Don't think about brand loyalty so much, its not like they'll give you a discount for that.

Agreed with all of your views.

Yes, I started this thread because I still can't find anything better than Oneplus.
But maybe it is possible that some small company is making a fresh product like the era of Oneplus One.

I'm not in a rush, but I'm starting to keep my eyes open for a better choice.
