Almost all of them support Oreo encryption now. There has been a patch out to support FDE from a while now. Skydragon, LineageOS, and NLOS are the 3 tested ones by me that support FDE. You should visit and read XDA forums more often.

Glassrom can automatically format your user data, reserve the correct space at the end of your userdata and forced encryption is mandatory on the oneplus 3

You might want to be careful as glassrom also enforces dm-verity

Well it is not encrypted "by default"

    Get your terms right maybe?

Another problem with official lineage is that it requires external dependencies to be able to encrypt

I'm not interested in arguing with you over the meaning of well-defined phrases.

Is this simple: I didn't have to do anything special to encrypt my data. It was automatically done for me when I installed the ROM. According to the definition above, that's "by default."

Well I already showed you the code

Lineage sets encryptable=footer and not forceencrypt=footer

The reason lineage can't encrypt by default is due to an external dependency on TWRP which will cause the ROM to fail to boot if it attempts encryption by default

Question for you: is my phone encrypted or not?

    Don't believe me? Try this

Go to TWRP > wipe > format data > type yes > press enter to confirm the format

Reboot immediately and you'll see that you're decrypted. You will be unable to encrypt unless you have a patched TWRP

It is because encryption on the oneplus 3 is block-level

You booted encrypted because encryption is transparent and independent of the filesystem being used on the decrypted block device

In other words you were encrypted from OOS, you ran an rm -rf on /data and flashed lineage

Since encryption works at a level below the filesystem the encryption from oxygenos was carried over

Next question: did I have to take any action to accomplish that encryption?

My question: did lineage encrypt your phone or did oxygenos?

You really should stop arguing with developers
