If that was true OnePlus would have to do weekly updates to keep up to date with every network provider on the planet.

Can confirm, that placing a Telus Sim in other One Plus phones works fine with no issues. It only does not work with the Nord N10

Have also tried it with mutiple Telus Sims. Where it only just doesn't work for the Nord N10, works on Op1, Op5 and SS S20s

This would be true.. but only when the manufacturer locks the APN setting or a bug keeps the end user from adding or editing the APN. said:
"This is how android handles APNs. There is a file called apns-conf.xml that resides in the system partition containing the available APNs that the OS can choose from. Depending on the SIM card that is inserted into the phone, the OS will try to pull from the file what is believe to be possible matches. Some OEMs do not provide a full set of APNs and as a result, the user is then required to manually enter one."

    Update from OnePlus:

"In order to check this further, we would need device updated logs and screenshots at the time of issue occurrence. Be assured that your data would be safe and secure.

    1. Which Carrier / Service Provider you are using?
    2. The Type of Network (VOLTE/4G/3G) used?
    3. Is the SIM working on other phone?
    4. Is other SIM working on this Phone?
    5. APN Information :

    Logs Capture procedure:
    1. Input *#800# from dialing interface to enter " OnePlus Logkit", click the [Delete icon] in the upper right corner to delete the historical log.
    2. Click “Basic Log” in the setting bar to enter the setting interface, click “Log save location”, select “/sdcard/oem_log”, and then select “get bugreport when stop logging”, click “Enter”, so the log path is at the sdcard location.
    3. Back to the main interface of the OnePlus Logkit, click the “Advanced” button in the bottom navigation bar, and open the “Copy Screenshot” switch.
    4. Click “QXDM Log” in the setting bar to enter the setting interface, click “QXDM Log type”, select “Modem-Common”.
    5. Back to the main interface of the OnePlus Logkit, click “QXDM Log” bar "Play" button to save logs, when it informs you whether to reboot, click “NOT REBOOT”
(Important) Reproduce the issue and take 1 or 2 screenshots to record the issue happening time.
    6. After Reproduce the issue then Enter *#800# on dial pad to enter “OnePlus Logkit”, click the “Tools” button in the bottom navigation bar, choose “other log info”, click “get bug report info” just before you finish the log process (it takes several minutes, wait till it’s done)
    7. Back to the main interface of the OnePlus Logkit, and then click “QXDM Log” bar "Play" button to stop it
    8. Enter file manager, choose storage, find the oem_log file and long press and click right upper corner three dots to compress it and update it in Google drive along with the screenshots.

    Note:
    1. Please log into Google drive and select the file and there will be an option to share.
    2. Log into Community through web browser and the option to paste the drive link will be available where you have received this message.
    3. After you share us the logs, please delete the file from your phone or it will occupy a lot of storage."

    Hi folks;
same issue on my device (Nord N10 5G) as well. I am on Telus network as well. Shaw SIM works but no Data connectivity to Telus. Cant alter APN. Default apn is set to isp.telus.com. Which does not work. Performed factory reset, system upgrades, etc. Telus support advised to change SIM card. Heading off to a store.

    Thanks

Same issue here. Big thanks to everyone above that has pushed this forward. I guess we have to wait for it to reach the proper department and they have their 'oh s***' moment.

Is there a way to escalate it to Oneplus. Or at least have them use team meeting etc. and access my phone to update that apn xml config file.

Just to add my experience, I spent about 80 minutes on the line with Telus support and OnePlus support this evening, both at the same time. OnePlus support figures I should get a new SIM card (even though it works with my geriatric OnePlus 2), Telus figures it's a phone software problem. Consensus here suggests it's more likely the latter than the former, so I'm not going to shrug on the hazmat suit to find a new SIM.

And yes, I've tried all the things on my phone, including a factory reset (which was little more than a token effort, considering the N10 arrived eight hours ago).

Correct, I talked with online Telus, and they suggested its not the SIM card, like they normally would. I also made an appointment to go into Telus and get a new SIM. They tried three, none of which worked. Their "tech savvy" person said that is likely a setting in the phone that needs to change in order to edit.

Went around the mall, and asked the other phone kiosk's (only things open in the mall lol) and tried the other carriers, worked on them all except Telus.

There is clearly an issue between OP and Telus.

Doesn't work for me as there is no + sign. And even with the sim card trick, the APN does not save.
    Can everyone else confirm?

THANK YOU jamesmack. I can confirm this works. Indeed there is no + sign but if you popout your simcard while in 'SIM & network settings' the whole area will be disabled. Then push your tray back in and as soon as it's available select 'access point names'. You should see a + sign before the phone has time to decide to disable it.
