Are People's Phones Still Getting the Bootloop Issue from the OTA

So what I've gathered and am assuming for now is that as long as there are no disabled stock apps the OTA update should go smoothly.

Yep, I have the same problem. I guess I'll have to use a recovery and either try again or try a manual load

I had bootloop from the ota. I had Google services enabled and had cleared cache and came from the last official ota firmware. Just held power for a short while it restarted and hung a little then started updating android apps. So I was lucky very easy fix for me.

    OK update....

I was able to upgrade, then I rebooted the phone and I got that message... "android is optimizing 1 of 3 apps" after doing it, it was able to boot normally

Did you do anything beforehand like clearing the cache or did you just download and install the update?

Hi, im trying to get my phone to work again too... so far i am trying to follow something like this https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ns-oxygenos-3-x-current-version-3-0-2.448593/
since i cant access my internal storage as option nr 1 tells you to do, i am curently trying the sideload thingy in option 2.
First attempt gave me an error at 92% :

    C:\>adb sideload opt.zip
loading: 'opt.zip'* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
    * daemon started successfully *
serving: 'opt.zip' (~92%) * failed to read command: No error

So i did another wipe of cache and data, now im back to 43%... hoping for the best, but fearing another error.
Next time, if it aint broken - i wont try to update anything lol.

    Edit: same stupid thing again.
    C:\>adb sideload opt.zip
loading: 'opt.zip'* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
    * daemon started successfully *
serving: 'opt.zip' (~92%) * failed to read command: No error

    C:\>adb sideload opt.zip
serving: 'opt.zip' (~92%) * failed to read command: No error

BUT when i powered on the phone it actually seems to work anyway.

I fell victim to the exact same thing when I tried to sideload the update - and for me the solution was to head into the Device Manager in Windows and swap the device driver for the Android ADB device. That worked like a charm.. (but the device still didn't work as something else was wrong!).

As to all those with the same update issue as me (got the 3.0.2 update OTA and had some apps and services disabled during update -> forever continuing bootloop), what helped me in the end was the excellent Mega Unbrick thread by Naman Bhalla over here.

I followed solution number 1 - and had to wipe data and cache, then sideload the update again (I picked the update file that was already located on the device) - and presto, it worked!
    A quick note here:
You will NOT loose you downloads, movies, music and pictures - but you WILL loose your apps and their settings and your device setup (unless backed up somewhere).
So the "Wipe data & cache" menu in the boot loader does not refer to the data space storing you precious moments and tender music :D

Also I deviated a bit from the guide in that I installed this all-in-one package that contains only the drivers (google) and tools (Android Debug Bridge) you actually need to do the work (no need for a full SDK if you can do it with a 9 Mb download right).

    Second note:
When Naman Bhalla writes in step 8 "(green text will come)", what he means is that a progressbar will be shown in ONE of the rows when you press start, and that you will see it progressing as it does its job.
I saw nothing the first (and second) time I did this, until I scrolled down in the list BEFORE pressing the start button...so worry not, he's right!

Hope this saves some people from going through the same 6 hour nightmare I just went through :)

    Best of luck to all

For those of you who are stuck in the bootloop
(OnePlus logo spinning and or Message saying "optimising Apps")
Please follow this to get your phone operating normally:
    Power off the phone.
Hold the volume button down and press the power button,
hold down both together until you see the screen power on
and the "powered by android logo", Then release both buttons.
    Select English as your language.
    Select Wipe Data and Cache
Select Wipe Data , confirm with Yes
    Select Done, confirm with Yes
    Select Wipe Data and Cache
Select Wipe Cache, confirm with Yes
    Select Reboot.
Phone will now boot normally, you WILL lose your saved apps and settings,
but you will NOT lose your files, photo's or music.
Unless you have a backup of your phone software
prior to the update Install, this is the only way that you can
reinstate the phone to a normal functioning condition.

That might work for most people - it didn't for me, probably because I had some services disabled when I started the OTA update process.
At least I assume that's what caused it to not work for me..
I had to take the long way around to fix it (see post #33).

You will only lose your contacts, IF they are only PHONE contacts locally stored only on the phone, and
not stored by google or WhatsApp.
