    Hello everyone,

Last week, we held a camera-themed OEF in Amsterdam to collect first-hand feedback from our
community users and, again, a huge ’thank you’ for all those shared opinions, both in person and online. Plus, don’t miss out the commitments we made here.

We always believe the users-centric technology can be called the 'best technology'. To develop this spirits and involve more of you in, we gladly invite our camera product manager @Jimmy Z. to join a AMA around the camera. Feel free to ask him whatever questions or doubt you have about OnePlus' camera system.

He will start releasing his answers from 9:30 to 11:00 AM ET/19:00 to 20:30 PM IST/14:30 to 16:00 PM BST next Monday, July 29. Please raise your queries before then.

Now, bombard him with that question you've been meaning to ask for a long time!

We will always focus on useful features with simple and intuitive experience. Anyway, more features can be expected for the future.

    1. It's on the way.
    2. Face retouching will not come into effect if you turn it off. We recommend to use Portrait mode in a well-lit environment for better image quality.
    3. We do completed test on performance before releasing an update. Could you specify which part is not fluid enough so we can look into it and figure out how to improve further?

Hi Rudi, nice to e-meeting you as well.
Focusing is locked after slow motion recording starts. So better to keep the object from a certain distance.
Video on triple lens will be supported. The team is now working on it to make it smooth when switching between lenses, as well as image stabilization. Professional operations of video recording is too complicated for most of the users. Currently we make it lower priority so we can focus more on required video features.

Please don't test it that way. It's designed to not switch to tele lens if you cover the lens before tapping the button to switch.

We don't see it's strongly necessary to build a powerful stock video editor since there are so many excellent third party apps in the Google Play.

    1. Focus peaking is too complicated for most of the users.
    2. Manual video setting is lower priority in our plan. However, some video features in on the way now.
    3. Looks like the photos are shot at near distance. When it's too close, telephoto lens will not be activated.
    4. We are working on this now.
    5. BW effect filter is available in photo editor in Gallery.

Compared to my Oneplus 2. Kind of degradation for me in some aspects.

Any plans about having 60fps in the camera viewfinder, to improve the super smooth experience of OnePlus phones? :)

    @Jimmy Z.

My main and probably most important question:

    1. Will there ever be done something about the kind of worse post-processing? Since the OnePlus 5 this has been a major problem. The oil-painting effect has been reduced with updates yes, but it still looks washed out compared to GCam, with a comparable image-size. Especially in low-light, which is kind of understandable, but ideally it doesn't seem to happen on a proper GCam port.

Now we're a few years further and it's still not optimal, while I secretly would have expected it to be optimal. Of course, the cameras on the 7 Pro are really good and the second and third camera are really adding something valuable. But obviously it can always be improved. Because right now, I need to switch between Google Camera and the OnePlus Camera; Google Camera for normal pictures and OnePlus Camera for wide-angle and telelens (you can make it work on GCam, but it requires root).

Examples can be found here: https://anonymouswp.stackstorage.com/s/lSGQEGpHMD4crYF

EDIT: @Jimmy Z. just decided to ignore me and all the other users, while it's maybe one of the most important questions regarding the camera. Also because are literally waiting for years now to get a proper answer from OnePlus regarding this problem. It's ridiculous that we're not at least getting an answer. However that I understand not everyone can be picked with a question, I think mine should have been answered, as it's a very demanding thing for a lot of people. Also because my post got a lot of likes/upvotes.

    EDIT 2: Jimmy replied: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/ask-me-anything-camera-edition.1081038/page-23#post-20606108

Hi @Jimmy Z. are you planning adding more features and editing features do Oneplus Camera?
Like cinemagraph feature por exemple, having a gif or video, 10 to 15 sec max with the possibility to, by drawing, choose what to have motion and what to not have motion!

@Jimmy Z. first I have to say 'thank you' for the opportunity to attend the OEF in Amsterdam, an amazing Event full of Ideas and a lot of constructive spirit :)

    some wishes for the future

    - the Ultra Wide angle lens deserves a better/bigger sensor
    - ProMode should not only be available for the main sensor/lense but also for UW & Tele
    - keep on the way listening to the community :)

    Few questions:
1.is there any plan to let users to take potrait images with main sensor..Because in Indoor lighting or limited space it is difficult to frame the subject properly..

2.I feel sharpness is lacking in case of human subjects..I know some Asian users like it that way but we shd have an option to disable that effect

3.Camera shutter speed and overall in app experiences shd be more fluid...what's your take on this?

NEVER SETTLE[e]1f60a[/e].. appreciate your work on camera
