    Are you guys on 10.0.4?
This update seems to have fixed this for me.
It should be available when you go to updates in system settings.
    let me know!

EDIT: thought it was fixed, but the problem still exists, but its not really a problem for me as it happens maybe once a day.
it seems like manually setting the brightness when it occurs, will make the system learn and the problem will (almost) fix itself

Bit strong! It's plenty bright, just the auto brightness often gets it wrong. I do think mine has gotten better but that's based on anecdotal evidence.

ditto here. its constantly adjusting to the wrong brightness for the environment. specifically whenever you play a video it suddenly goes darker and even if you adjust it manually it adjusts it again after a few seconds. also when taking out of the pocket, it takes far too long to become bright.

I think it is working fine for me after making manual adjustments multiple times in different locations,it is taking too much time to adapt.

Same issue here. auto adjusting doesn't seem to work much and also few times a day it becomes really dimmed without reason... thinking about returning the phone

it's to late for returning phone for me. but after one month with OnePlus 7t pro, I have to say that I probably will not buy phone of this company anymore. it should be bugless, super fluid experience, and to be honest, it's not :(

Yeh on 10.0.4 problem is still there. Getting fed up with it. have turn off the auto brightness. This should be addressed asap. Its irritating as hell to manually keep changing the brightness.

+1 on turning of auto brightness. That function needs a lot of TLC.

phone is now 4 weeks old and auto brightness seems to work good.

however, when night mode is activated it still gets too dark

I also have this issue. I have a feeling that the one on the Android 9 was more responsive. Since the update, I need to manually turn it off and on to let the brightness change "automatically".

Same problem issue here - adaptive brightness is way to dark when lighting is low. Oneplus really need to resolve.

    I solved it.

    the option in OnePlus laboratory
    disabled the DC thing.

it does something with the screen.
