Just wanted to know . Is the latest firmware still killing apps aggressively in the background?. I have allowed for certain apps to remain in the background but the stock firmware remains aggressive!. Any ideas please ?

    Yes it is. AF.

I went using a 3rd party GSI rom for a while and my OP6 experience was totally different. I loved my phone.

However I had other issues (Wi-Fi autoconnect was not working) and I was forced to switch back to this crap.

I guess you can't have everything.

You may search on that direction.

This is what happens.when people complain that their battery is draining too quickly.

You do have a point there, however it makes no sense for OOS to touch the explicitly selected "DO NOT optimize" apps.

Guys this is a serious serious issue with oneplus stock firmware. Even if you make exceptions to leave certain apps in background they are still killed as soon as you leave the app. I have a bunch of apps which rely on background sync and if on stock firmware these apps won't sync untill you turn on the screen I know battery life is important but what's the point of having a big capacity battery when your usage is restricted.

Does anyone have a solution on this please and how do we reach out to oneplus to help with this issue please?

Just tried to get @getpeid' attention on twitter cause this a very significant issue and it needs resolving. I have had to resort to installing a custom rom, just to have background apps remain active. Surely this cannot be right!

Thanks for the link. Has anyone tried what's on the link? I am currently running a custom rom and it's a right pain having to return to stock only to find the solutions on the link don't work..

It generally says that OnePlus has to change the firmware to let Android work as it is supposed to.

you can do all the battery optimisation you want, it will not work as Android is supposed to,like on the pixel phones for example.

write bug reports and contact journalists so that they write about it,otherwise nothing will change.

Thanks buddy. Having taken this even on twitter but alas no response yet. I think for those who understand this problem it's a terrible terrible bug and I hope to make more noise but am less optimistic that they will actually fix this.

Anyone knows if the latest 9.0.5 fixed this issue. Had no response at all from OnePlus over on twitter which is typical.

    No It doesn't...
    Nothing works actually
this is really frustrating. I can't believe I have to flash a custom ROM too keep my work app from dying. I never had a similar experience in any other devices even low end phones with 2GB RAM!
    this is a serious issue

In my opinion too this is a serious bug. I work with apps like Tasker and it is always killed being in the background. For me it is even a reason to buy another device.

    Same for me.
My 6T is a great phone but with this app background behavior of stock os, this will be my last OnePlus device.
it's a shame that many things matter for OnePlus, but the most important thing is not dealt with at all.

    very sad...

So keep writing reports on this. preferably to the tech media, because if they don't report this behaviour than nothing will change!

I've reported this on two devices and even provided logs. maybe they can't/don't want to fix this...
I've came back to my Note 8 untill they fix this.

I have the same problem - the wear OS app cannot work properly and disconnects internet on the watch. this has been reported multiple times and it's a source of great frustration.

    They can...
In my opinion they don`t want to !

Stock Android behaves completly different, so OP implemented the taskkilling feature into their OS.

If they think that is great feature.... IT`S NOT.

At least give me an option to use the normal background behaviour of Android 9 even if it costs me more battery drain.
For me this is the biggest drawback on OP OS. Otherwise the phones are great.
