why do you use a anti virus? mostly there is no need for it. its consume loadz of ram more than anything and it doesnt allow your phone to go into deep sleep. uninstall these kinda apps.

yes better to remove and try!! you can install the paid version if you feel you need it again.
i am using android past its release and i never had any issue with malware or anything. its very rare.
uninstalling it will surely reduce the battery drain.

    Install Greenify
    - Add to Hibernate Every Single App (Except Wat u want to get notification,GMAIL won't get hibernated, So My Suggestion will be Hibernate Everything,Except Whatsapp)
-Create Greenify Widget on Screen & Enjoy

Works for Me ... i Easily get battery life of 1 Day 1h+ With SOT of 7hrs+

Hi @eashwar_g - can you please tell me what steps you took for rooting. What software you used, and commands, etc. And how much time it took. I have read several posts or links on this but they seem to be intimidating for me and even more so because of the warning re bricking. Thanks!!

Thank you so much @sumchamp. I will be slowly putting my OPO to actual use this week as I too had some serious battery problems immediately after receiving it. I will go thru the link carefully and maybe go ahead and root it. I am not sure, being not a power user whether I will have much use of the power features that a rooted phone gives. I have yet to understand the benefits also, and the immediate need for rooting arose only because some suggestions to solve the battery problem required booting.

    Thanks a lot again.

Its nearly impossible to hard brick your phone. Don't worry and follow the steps mentioned, you will be fine.
