WhatsApp is on the top, and I'm reading all the news about WhatsApp draining battery

I cannot confirm if WhatsApp is the culprit here because I'm always on a WhatsApp call and so if it's on the top, it's only justifiable.

    Why don't you try this:

Backup your chats, uninstall WhatsApp. Download a WhatsApp beta apk from apkmirror.

And if nothing works, try turning off "Voice match" in Google app settings. (Google app > Settings > Voice) and see if you can squeeze some extra juice.

    Thanks alot!

i just have another doubt! just a day before my phone got bricked by installing the 10.0.5 OTA UPDATE and i had to visit the ONEPLUS SERVICE CENTRE. i lost my data and only had a Google backup which saved me some work of resetting my phone!

so.. are these two issues related anyway?

I don't think so it can be related.

10.0.6 update is rolling out for 7T users and the changelog says they've improved standby power consumption!

Dear all , just my experience /.

OnePlus 5T in my case . Suddenly Battery is draining a lot comparing with last week .
I've found that WhatsApp is guilty of charge about it, and I reported the failure to the WhatsApp Team . The failure seems to be happen in Oneplus , Xiaomi , Samsung (some models) , Honor , etc.

Answer from the WhatsApp team follows :
    Thanks for your message.
Thanks for informing us about the issue; it'll be fixed in a future version of WhatsApp. Unfortunately, we can't provide any comments. Please visit our blog or Help Center to find out the latest information.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We'll be happy to help!

Because the failure appears in the .308 version of Whatsapp the possible workaround would be to get the previous version .291 and reinstall it , and avoid automatic updates (Google Play Store) of whatsapp team in the meantime .

If someone like to run some risks about the support and other stuff (because is a beta) you can download the version .327 to test it . I didnt for the moment .

In my case , (I emphasize , in my case) i defined Whatsapp to have battery optimization and this flag helps me to keep the battery in a reasonable level (but did not solve the problem) .

Hope it helps for users claiming for a solution .

PS . In the meantime I was writing this topic whatsapp was updated to version 330 in my Phone . Let's see what happen .

In version .330 still battery is draining a lot .
It was an improvement but it is not enough . Oxygen inform about whatsapp is consuming a lot of power .

Hey there i ws having the same issue for 2/3 days and i think i might found the solution for it.
    * Go to setting > Battery > Battery Optimisation
Here you could see all the apps are on Intelligent Control by default
*Change it to Optimise one by one (Which ever you think you don't want it to be running on background).
And change it your refresh rate to 60hz if you want to.
By doing all this brought me back to 6+ hours SOT(Screen On Time).
Hope this will help you as well!
    Thank you!

Thanks alot!!! This works like a charm but OnePlus should fix it with an update. My phone now goes for a full day with medium heavy use.
