Battery going from 5% to 0 in just few seconds Mar 23, 2018

    I get a fairy decent battery life. However I've noticed that when my battery reaches 5% it quickly goes down to 0 within 10 to 15 seconds. Though not an issue as of now as I can avoid this by charging the battery before it reaches 5, I just wanted to know why it darins so quickly after it reaches 5. Earlier it used to drain at the same pace even after it reached 5% battery level. Does it indicate an impending problem with battery? I have tried clearing the phone cache. I have OOS 5.0.2 with December security patch.

    Battery can degrade overtime, this is the result. If it drops from 5 to 0 it is not that bad, you can start worrying when it switches itself when over 40%

    Is it happening every time it reaches 5% or you faced it just one time?

    Agree, it's a result of battery age.

    Could you have avoided it? I doubt, I think it's normal to start seeing 3 and 3t batteries showing signs of aging

    i have samsung s4 ( original battery replaced with another original) and it often dies at 30% , so you are in better position then me.

    I've heard you can calibrate your battery/ the battery indicator. Charge your phone to 100% then let it completely discharge and charge it again to 100%. After that the system can show you more accurate your "real" battery percentage.

    sometimes it happens, I solve it charging my phone only the necessary time. don't let it charging over all night. ;)

    untill 5% u using is mistake, u r simply taking life time of ur battery. Before it reaches 20% charge it , then only battery performance will be good

    it could be a battery calibration issue. nothing unusual though.

    it is always a good idea to charge your battery before it reaches 10%. below 10%, the battery undergoes additional stress to keep powering the device. better to avoid it.

    I usually do not let it go too low. But under a particular circumstance I noted it. Will make sure I avoid it

    Just keep in mind, that if you let your phone reach 5% or 0% frequently, then you have already created a permanent problem to your battery.

    Don't complain later for problematic behavior.

    Install Accubattery and check your device's battery health if it is showing your battery % less than 90% then your battery has started ageing due to long term use better try factory reset or go for official battery replacement from OnePlus.
