Battery Life on OP2

    CMHayes , Sep 29, 2015 :
    Morning everyone,

So I was thrilled to receive my OP2 yesterday and am happy to report no major bugs.

However, one thing I have noticed is the battery life does deplete rather quickly (I have lost 6% in the last 20 minutes!) I have already turned the screen brightness down, turned off location services, turned off the fingerprint scanner and made at sure Bluetooth is off.

I have searched on the forums and a lot of people were suggesting rooting. I don't want to do this as I really don't know what I'm doing. Is there anything else I can do to improve battery life? Is it just a matter of it needing several charges to get going?

I'd appreciate any advice people can give! :)

As I saw with my OP2, it needs some 1-2 cycles to calibrate. Besides that, I had some drain issues when the phone was in idle over night, it lots 35% in 8 hours. I restarted it and the viewed the battery usage with GSam. Turns out that I had a game running in the background :D.

The restart "fixed" it. I now have about 3 hours of screen time and a total of 24 hours battery span.

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

LE: I was on OxygenOS 2.0.3, recently upgraded to 2.1

I'm having the exact same 'problem' will update my post after two or three cycles of charging. Otherwise I'll root and update manually with a clean install.

Thanks for the reply. My battery usage is showing Google Play services, screen and the OS as being the main drainers just now... I'm hoping it's just a matter of the battery calibrating as this won't even last a day at this rate!

I'll try GSam and a restart and see if that works too.

I'm still on 2.0.2, not rooted, and here are a few screenshots of Battery Widget Reborn (sorry, in French, but self-explanatory imo...)

it's normal to indicate that screen on time and OS is draining your battery. it needs to record what other apps/services ar draining the battery so let it sit there and do your daily duties.

    cheers!

No way? That's a lot better than mine. I've had a look on GSam and it appears that a ton of apps are running and all using 0.1% each.

How do I manage this without breaking anything? I'm worried if I 'force stop' it might ruin something!

Thanks, I'm sure I would make a fool of myself.. You would have no problem identifying the redneck from Texas.. I'd be the one going........

Well, depends on which are the apps in your 'ton of' :(
My OPT is not fully 'set up' with all my apps yet, but I have a decent and average '2 days without charging' , depending on my use ofc.

Cool:) you'll probably enjoy your stay in South of France, in 'Camargue'. Never been in Texas so far, but that should be a right place for 'redneck': wide areas, cows and bulls, corridas... Google that ;)

No way? That's crazy!! I have the apps I used on my Nexus 6 on here so I may well get rid of some of them to be honest. However, here is what GSam is showing so far after I installed it this morning (see screenshots).

I had no idea as many apps were running!
