    Nice move towards the camera.

I think pop up is the best option to use the front camera
I have the 7t pro and the pop up mechanism it really
sounds great. And the best option when the mechanism
feel to stop the camera it automatically close

Precisely not for obvious security reasons and what is more for the aesthetic side.

it could integrate the Qualcomm 3D Ultrasonic sensor to better secure their device too but here we are deviating from the initial subject to say that the two are good.

Not from my point of view in any case, even on the applications which do not support this magnificent hole in the screen we have the right to a beautiful black bar where then try to force the mode in the Oneplus settings, not very user friendly.

No worries after all i also respect the point of view of others as virulent as i can be sometimes but personally even if i choose from my point of view once again, i would prefer a motorized camera like on the 7/T Pro series.

Anyone who has OnePlus 7/7T should ideally wait for OP9T or higher.

All the increments are going to be nothing more than gimmicks (4th camera on OP8Pro).

I'm sure by the time OP9T or 10 comes out, under display front camera would have become mainstream and 5G would be more accessible to the masses.

I upgraded from 5T, and the only improvement that I can see in my 7T is better screen and camera. Any significant performance bump between SD835 and SD855+ is only minutely visible while playing demanding games for long duration.
My OP5T is still in good shape and can easily be my daily driver in case of an emergency.

I think pop-up camera is the go-to choice as of now, and people who have it should wait for under display front camera or they'll feel like they've downgraded.

Thumps up for the innovation on the pop-up front camera in the 7 Pro, which gave us a full screen. Period!!
The 8 Pro goes backwards with the tear drop invading my screen; not as innovative, especially when shown that the 7 Pro without IP68 Rating, could handle immersion. That should have been the baseline for the 8 series.

    Quite informative read.

Am a first timer for OnePlus and am enjoying my 7 Pro. I prefer the Pop up selfie camera coz we get the entire full screen visibility and the pop up camera gives it an entirely modern sensation while in use.

Wish it comes back in future pro models of OnePlus.

I personally prefer pop up. I barely use it and, sadly, the OnePlus front facing cameras have always disappointed me. I'd rather have a full screen experience rather than having a distraction.

Sure I'm missing out on IP rating but that has never been a concern for me, I enjoy my full screen experience far more than worrying about getting my phone wet. I've seen some people watching a Netflix series....oh boy that top area basically becomes a bezel. On YouTube, a distraction.

I'm confused about how you got to the conclusion that pop-up camera does or does not provide pocket mode. Pocket mode is a completely different entity and has nothing to do with the camera. The 8 series has the sensors for it on the right side of front facing speakers afaik which 7 and 7t series do not have. So I wouldn't count it as a con... but more like something that was skipped on 7 and 7t series. Based on how it was implemented on 8 series, if it was added to 7 and 7t series, the screen still would've been "full screen" as it is currently.
