Very unscientific test but I figured someone might want two extremely similar images side by side. If you have any observations, drop a comment.

    DISCLAIMER:
I don't think there is any oil painting effect at all on the samples I uploaded, I just provided identical images for people to compare because I thought it would be useful. thanks

Also, the 'oil-painting' effect was the main target of this update. From what I have seen, this issue mostly occurs in medium to low light.

Zooming isn't even in context here.
Normal pictures taken with rear cam and without any zoom still have oil painting effect.
Even shots taken with front cam have visible oil painting.

I guess that's what you get cropping a 16 MP photo down to the resolution of a digital camera form 1998...

you really can't tell much from your comparison....it's cropped and compressed.

    But thanks for trying

Top two are uncropped. The second two were cropped for that reason, to circumvent the compression- to see the oil painting up close with max detail...

I cropped them for a reason— to show the oil painting effect, which only occurs when you zoom into the image......

Zoom is not a variable that increases the effect. Oil painting effect is an issue regardless of zoom

one thing I noticed that the moment you have less light (compared to outdoor lighting conditions) , the image processing kicks in little strong than regular and the oil painting effect occurs.
Outdoor shots have it but very less.

The way they post process isn't really strong/optimal

After seeing the pics, I think the oil painting effect still persist

Not really. What we are seeing here is an extremely zoomed in pic that has flower and the blurred bokeh effect in the background which mimics oil paint effect at such a zoomed in level.

    @Wuhfel
If there really was oil painting effect, it would have shown up on the flower itself, not it's background which is mimicking blurred effect

Im really try to understand what do people expect from a budget phone.

Are you going to continuously take photos and zoom in and make it an issue.

Come on guys, the quality camera for this price is great.

Im not a professional photographer but i take photos for memories and i can tell u its on point ... at least for me.

I think people should spend more money, buy a flagship device and zoom in all your photos.

This company is doing a fantastic job and yet in all forums its about camera quality, oil paint effect. [e]1f602[/e].

I know this matters to some so i think you should spend more money and get a device to match your expectations.

Will post some "regular pictures" not zoomed in, soon.
