Why don't you use Boeffla kernel? With it my battery lasts approximately 1,5 days

It is not a custom ROM. Its simply debloated oxygen OS. All the useless apps are gone and you can selectively install them from Play store.

For a good mix between performance and battery life, blu_spark kernel with f2fs. Very smooth overall. 6hrs SOT

For a battery friendly light weight usage, EX kernel with EXKM app and Cold fusion profile from XDA (there are many more to choose from according to your need). These profiles will work on any kernel but I have only tested them on EX kernel. You can get upto 8-9 hrs of SOT with ! moderate usage

If you are dead set on RR or CM then I personally found Boeffla Kernel (someone already suggested this) the best, and most stable way to get better battery life. But this is at some cost - underclocking, undervolting means poorer performance and sometimes some instability. In fact entering the world of kernel-tweaking to get better battery life can be a total nightmare. Battery life depends on your personal phone-use, routine and habits; but when you're obsessing over battery life your habits aren't normal - you constantly check the battery percentage which means your screen-on time is greater, and doze (which delivers serious battery savings) never kicks in properly because your phone is always being picked up.

My advice would be if RR hasn't given you good battery life then stay away from CM-based roms. Hold out for a great AOSP based rom. I'm using rooted OOS for now, because my experience on the OPO tells me that the good roms haven't arrived for the OP3 yet. I think its a timing thing, there doesn't seem to be as much development of stable Marshmallow roms, possibly because folks are holding out for a stable Nougat base to develop from?

Rooted stock OOS gives you stability, all the phone's features, lets you use adblock and Greenify (which helps battery) and from what I can see, better battery life than CM can offer (at least with MY personal usage, which I realise is different to other people).

Op3Lite + blu_spark. However if you want to make things really smooth, format your data and cache partitions to f2fs before using blu_spark. This requires a complete wipe including everything on internal storage

I used Paranoid android and I was the best for performance and battery. But it had GPS issues for me. Now trying slim 6 ROM for over 2 weeks and it seems pretty good

So guys I've been using miui8 by erv99 and heard he's out of commission after flashing the rom. The phone heats up a lot. Dash charge doesn't seem to be working and plugging in headphones causes disturbing sounds apparently. It turns off suddenly too. I heard the wuxalin... Pardon me If I got his name wrong's rom is pretty good but its in Chinese. What do I do? I really like miui8 someone please point me towards a direction.

Go with CypherOs ROM, you will find it on xda, nice and smooth with a bit bugs that dont affect the Nougat experience, nice and stable overall...
