best reasons to root

i hear a lot of people use the line "i use my phone as a phone" . I personally think that's a bit funny now because i feel like the whole point of a smart phone is it does more than that. then there are tons of people that might use there phone for more than just calling and texting but still see no reason to root. I've been rooting my nexus 4 and using root access apps on it for a while now but its hard to explain to people why they would need to if they have never rooted before. so i ask my fellow rooters out there what are some of your favorite things to do with a rooted phone and how have they made your phone use more convenient ? non rooters if you have any questions feel free to ask for clarification

think the main reason people root is cause they like to make it look and do things that stock just doesnt. obviously they dont look at phone as just a phone but a way of life ;)

custom roms which bring innovative features that enhance the android experience. Ad blockers, titanium backup and a few key root apps people use. Rooting the phone then installing a custom kernel can also improve battery life and performance of the phone.

yea in fact Custom Roms do not really impact battery life, they only add features and can improve performance depending on the toolchain used to build them upon/updated libraries. My Nexus 4 battery is terrible stock, but with custom kernel I manage 4 hours SOT average.

xposed is great but that's one that is so hard to explain because it does so much. even if you limited it to just gravity box that's so much that i don't even want to try to explain haha

If rooting gave me Windows, Android, and iOS then it might be worth the accompanying problems.

I don't have a OPO, but for my Nexus 4 I use Hellscore Kernel. But the OPO has furnace kernel, which I have also used on my Nexus 4. The dev is great, check it out on XDA

Xposed Framework is a good option for having Halo floating notifications which allow you to open any window in a facebook's messenger-like window for an extra way of multitasking so you don't have to stop what you're doing and exit an app to answer an sms or a mail, or even browsing the web or watching a youttube video. I once tryed to root my Xperia T, but bricked it so I have't tryed rooting any phone since that. I think I'll try to root my OPO.... If I had one...

yea honestly, I would still appreciate an invite and be grateful, but I would be using it to purchase a phone for someone I know who is in desperate need of it, otherwise all other invites I get will go towards the community

Adaway is the number one reason. CM 11S is pretty nice already, so not much modding needs to be done.

the new paranoid android has hover instead. from what i heard it isn't good to use xposed along with custom roms due to conflicts

the thing is some say the nexus 6 will have a 5.2 inch screen. i know thats only a .3 inch difference from the opo but for some reason is seems like a lot

It will be a small difference. If anything, the Nexus 6 will be more compact compared to the OPO I hope
