But modded google hdr+ apk works fine on op3(t) but not apparently on OP5, and installing op3(t) optimised files on OP5 is asking for issues, so personally I'd stick to op5 forum.

The Oneplus 5 indeed has a good and powerful camera - but without the right software it gets rendered a bit useless. It's not bad at all but improvements could be made for sure!

the stock camera app is not as bad as you are making it out to be. the pictures from Google camera are better in many situations, but not always. many times they look over-processed and more artificial. again, it is the picture processing capabilities of the Google camera that makes them compete with the best smartphones, despite having a poor build quality and relatively less features.

Thanks. i get ur point. But my main post was about need of better n revamped stock camera app. as i found it more of a general issue than related to oneplus 5 only i posted here as well.

N to be very frank , in all these days ive learned ppl in oneplus 3/3t forums are more active n well informed than oneplus 5 section, stupidity of when oreo coming when oreo coming is everywhere on oneplus 5 , as if their very life depends on oreo n nothing else.

Good image quality requires great software, which in turn requires highly specialised engineers, which OnePlus simply does not have.

In the same way they acknowledge they don't have the resources of the big tech companies to develop curved screens and things like that, they don't have the critical mass as a company to lure those great experienced engineers. They work at other companies like Apple, Google, Samsung, even Huawei and LG.

I have been waiting for a meaningful update from OnePlus, mostly to improve overall quality. I don't really expect much in terms of the many gimmicky features that are getting no love, like panorama, slow motion, time lapse or portrait, but I was hoping to see something to that effect, that would significantly improve the basics.

It has not happened and I am starting to think it never will because I believe OnePlus simply don't have the skilled individuals required to take their camera to the next level. What bothers me is that I would be okay with that, I am not much of a photographer, but when the phone's advertising is built around an average camera that won't be improved, it sucks.

I disagree with u , to my disappointment i found oneplus5 camera strictly ok ok . previously i had Samsung galaxy J7 max ( mid range tier phone from samsung). n trust me image n video clarity were way better on that mid range phone also.

I am not some negative minded person who whine without no reason.

if samsung can give better camera in 17k INR than how come oneplus 5 cant give in almost double prize of 35 k INR. n infact it definitely has powerful camera , just sub par software to handle it.

now this software made intentionally sub par so in future phone (5t or 6) they just tweak camera app to give better result n advertised in front of world as better camera than oneplus 5 is really questionable.

hahaha. after writing 3 para of substance, you messed everything up with your last para.

do pictures from the Google camera under all lighting conditions give you better images? I do have access to a OP5 and the images are definitely superior to the ones taken with my 3T, especially under well lit conditions. on low light, there is little to differentiate between the two though.

i may very well be right also about my last paragraph [e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e]
Leave apart that , yes images were better in almost all conditions.
Ive deleted that app only bcoz of annoying long lag in shutter time while capturing n longer image processing time

long shutter and processing times are due to HDR+. do you have HDR+ set to auto or always on? again, processing should happen in the background without affecting your photo capturing process.

You don't get more than 2 or 3 updates in the Camera department which would probably try to fix things that are broken in the camera department.
Regardless of whether they succeed or not that is it, no further effort will be made by oneplus there

have you tried different settings? from what I have seen, there is a small lag while capturing when the flash turns on. otherwise, I haven't experienced any lag so far. I am using the one optimised for Snapdragon 821.
