Bloatware

The OnePlus 7 is my 3rd Oneplus device and for the first time I was disappointed to see a pre-installed bloatware app (Netflix). Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but I neither want nor need this app and the lack of unwanted bloatware is one reason I chose Oneplus over Samsung, Sony etc. If you insist on pre-installing it then at least give me the option to uninstall it.

    What?!
    Pre-installed Netflix app? That's 100% bloatware.

Oh it's far worse than that if that was the only crap within OOS... Bad news it's going to get worse as most Indian users won't be happy until they get all features from all phones, OOS as we knew it and loved it is long gone..

Well, at least it will be restricted to Indian users. (Not that I support bloatware).

But there are quite a few India specific features.
But this Netflix thing is worrying.

Its made a system app to optimize the viewing experience. If you wish to uninstall it simply use adb commands to uninstall it for your set of apps and it would bother you again.

To Disable System Apps via ADB:

You need to enable USB Debugging before you proceed further, to do so:
Settings > About Phone > Click on the Build No 7 Times to enable Developer Options
Go Back > System > you will find Developer Options
Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging, and continue [IMG]

Connect your device to the PC, Authorize the ADB bridge

    Enter Command prompt as Administrator

ADB Devices and authorize the prompt

ADB Devices again to check if you get your device serial no

and there on you can uninstall any app or package

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>adb devices
    List of devices attached
    XXXXXXX device

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>adb shell
    Oneplus7:/ $ pm uninstall -k --user 0 'packagename'
pm uninstall -k --user 0 'packagename'
    Success

I can remember a poll some time ago.
The question was whether people would like to be able to watch Netflix programs in HD or not. The counterside was that Netflix required the app to be installed in default ROM.
People still wanted to be able to watch HD.
And now of course, some other people aren't happy with Netflix prerequisites.
I guess even some people who answered they wanted to watch Netflix in HD are now upset with having Netflix app pre-installed.
This is the consequence of "made with our fans" motto: you need to get a majority when a poll is set up.
