    Hi everyone
hope someone can help me here.
I have OnePlus 5 with Android 8.1 and Oxygen 5.1.

Bluetooth codecs menu disappeared. previous OS version I could choose between: aptx/aptx-hd and more.
After the update can't find it anymore.

Is it gone? does Bluetooth match the codec automatically between devices? what happened?

Bluetooth Codecs are exposed under Developer Options

But it is wise to use Default option here. I have 2 bluetooth headphones, 1 supports LDAC and 1 supports AptX and using default ensures that Android uses appropriate codec when device is connected instead of forcing a specific (and potentially unsupported) codec.

On each Bluetooth connection (Settings > Bluetooth) it now auto-detects the capability and there is a tick box under the cog (ie for my Sony WH1000XM2 headphones I now have "HD Audio" as well as Phone calls, media audio and contact sharing).
There is a more codec name specific option in developer options. But they I assume, probably correctly, that most people won't have the first clue about codec types.

    Hi guys,
I'm using oneplus 5 mobile in which I'm facing problem with Bluetooth codecs as my skullcandy bluetooth headset is being automatically connected with lowest codec SBC in which sound is very low. This problem started coming after I updated my phone to android 8.1 oreo. Before this update i used to use Bluetooth AptX HD codec but now it automatically selects SBC which is of very poor quality. So can someone please help me with this issue.

For your information the particular Skullcandy headphone does not support aptx hd. Selection of aptx hd in your phone doesn't mean that u will get hd quality audio unless it is supposed by the audio device.
