Brightness issues on my Nord N10 5G via OnePlus Nord N10 5G Metro

  1. V1610184410875 , via OnePlus Nord N10 5G Metro , Jul 22, 2021 :
The brightness on my phone has been locking to the lowest. While I can manually adjust it, it just won't get brighter. This started happening yesterday and I don't know the cause. This issue does get fixed after a restart, but I don't want to restart it every time.

Same here, just happened to me a little while ago, I believe the fix is turning off the option to use less power when your sleeping. I'll find the exact steps momentarily and report back.

Happened to me today twice so far. I'd say it was linked to the Android 11 update but I did that a while ago if I remember correctly. This issue only started today.

I was in my Chime app the first time, at my home screen the second time, and Discord the third time. A restart was the only remedy each time.

Adaptive brightness on or off did nothing. Brightness was at max and I couldn't see a damn thing. It was atleast twice as dim as the lowest brightness setting. A very artificial dimming.

I just now updated to the latest security patch and bug fixes. OxygenOS Build 11.01.BE86AA is what I'm at now. Not sure what it was at before. Haven't had the issue happen since the update but I updated less than 10 mins ago. Give it time.

On one hand I'm glad I'm not the only one. Atleast my wife can't blame me personally. On the other hand I'm hoping this isn't a permanent or device crippling issue.

I just got my N10 two days ago. When I got home I reset phone to factory, logged into phone and did minimal file transfer, as I wanted to update operating system first, then do my migration. I have had no brightness issues whatsoever.

This is happening to me as well!! Just bought the phone a couple days ago, updated to 11 newest update. The day I bought it.

Two times since purchase the phone has gone super dim and not responded to the brightness slider. I keep adaptive brightness off, and no setting I could find that made any difference.

First time I had to reset the phone, this time (just happened) I decided to fiddle with settings. But after giving up I turned the screen off set it down and came back a few minutes later to it acting completely normal and screen brightness up.

Brand New phone not a great impression.

Me too. Bought the phone in Mid August. Before going thru all the settings and using OnePlus Switch to move data off my old phone, I updated to Android 11.

It worked fine until about a month ago. I think it may have started after the last OS security update. BUt it gets worse as time goes on.

The screen dim does not work at all. I can slide that slider up abd down and nothing ever changes on screen brightness, when it is on auto or manual.

Over time, the screen will get dimmer and dimmer. If I set it down for a period of time, then the screen will be very dim so it can't. At first it would be every once in a while, now it is several times a day.

I just turned off the Sleep standby in battery optimization to see if that works.

I am running software version 11.0.1.BE88CB.

This is completely unacceptable. This issue has been going on for months. This phone is a piece of junk. I want my money back. I will be going to T-Mobile tomorrow to demand a new phone.

FYI: I did this a few minutes ago. I think that may be it. Before I did this, the screen brightness did not work at all. I could slide that slider up and down and nothing ever changed on screen brightness, auto or manual. Now it works! On auto and manual!

Hopefully this is the "fix"! But disabling a feature is NOT a fix, it's a workaround. Luckily I don't need that feature

So far the screen brightness has not faded into darkness. Phone is working fine now. This is a workaround that works.
